| Alright fellas, I know how a lot of us are glider-crazy, so how about a quick survey of your favorite GLIDERS and why ? I'm thinking more of the classic drop belly, neutral to slow sink styles. Key features are length of glide, amount belly flash shimmy, horizontal pause, near neutral hang, you know. Dunright Dancer, Beav's Perka, Bikini Beer Belly, TrueGlide Hustler, Manta, Hellhound, Slammer Drop Belly, HR Shaker, Danczyk, Grey Ghost, RubberHairy Gill Glide, Cobbs... just a few off the top of my head, I know there's way more limited run and mainstream one out there.
I haven't tried nearly as many as I would like to, but I was very impressed with the Danczyk SG8 last year. Nice shimmy and rock after the glide, but it has a fairly tight glide path, and a little faster sink than some though.
Lets hear your glider recommendations, I'm just looking for where I need to spend more money, you know.

Location: The desert | I think the most amazing looking and working glide baits are the Musky Snax glide baits. Simply amazing watching that walleye 'swim' in. No takers on it yet but one will come, this I know! I also love the manta and the Perkette. I seem to tend to custom made baits, nice to meet the people that make your baits and have some conversations and share some pictures with them.

I have an old walleye patterned on that has NO clear finish left on it, is purly wood-colored on one side and is blind in one eye, but man does it CATCH FISH! Something about the way it is weighted or something....not real sure...I have a few others that I do well with, but man, this one is GOLD!!
I'd be interested to hear about other ugly baits that catch fish.... |

| Shallow Invader... make that sucker BREAKDANCE!
As for a TRUE glider the Hellhound is easy to work and very durable. Phantoms are great, I prefer the smaller size. Slammer Drop Belly used to get quite a bit of play, great slow, tight glide with an awesome belly roll. Must confess, not a big glider fan but these are the ones in my collection. One more that I forgot to mention is the Novak line of gliders; superb design, straight cranking will get it to do what most gliders need a tap to accomplish; small taps will send it turning 180 in a tight pattern and can take at least a minute or two to work back to the boat on a normal length cast (takes "keep it in the strike zone" to a WHOLE new level).

Location: Sandusky, OH | The best producer for me last year was a Musky Magic Slidin' Shad. Real tight action but very consistant and easy to work. If the clear coat had held up it would be perfect.
The bait I'm looking forward to using the most is the 8" Timberwolf I got my hands on late last fall. Only had the chance to throw it once from the dock, but was very impressed. Very wide glide with lots of hang, but can practically work it in place if you twitch it right. Very nice.

Location: Athens, Ohio | My favs happen to be made by folks I know from this website. Muskie Treats, far and away my top glider, Beav's Perkas and Castor, and the Fit all get time-in-the-water most every trip. I'm getting real partial to my Gene's Wide Glide, we just need a little more time together. m |

In the typical definition of glide bait:
1. Perka - can be a very "active" bait, also has the longer glide, belly roll capabilities and little shimmy on the drop, slow sink
2. Hellhound - shimmy on the drop, work fast or slow, can add some up/down action as well, little faster sink
As some have alluded to already, the modified definition:
3. DDD - sweeeet hang time, nice depth capability for a "glider", great action |

|
| i prefer an erratic action (side-side/up-down) over a hypnotic one (side-side only).
for that i like the Wabull and Baby Wabull, these things will dance - just don't rush them.
i'm also partial to the standard size Muskie Treat, nice snap and hang.

I named mine "Tripsaver", and the fish I have caught with it have named it "Toothache"! I cannot wait to through the rest of them I got this winter.
Favorite glider? yes.
Most favorite bait I've ever owned? DEFINATELY
Second place: Hang Ten and regular Manta
I also can't wait to try The squirko K-bob got me for X-mas, and the Dunright Muskymaj got for me. |

Some that are not, that I have and are great as well are the Rubberhairy Squiley Gill Glide(by the way people came to me and said it was the best looking bait they had seen in the pool at lacrosse), Hoosirehandmade glide baits and the rubber EZ GLider from Lake shore Lure Conmpany. Another vote here too from me for the H20 gliders, nitro and x-glide, Roger never ceases to amaze me with his work. |

I agree with that. You can make those puppies do some crazy stuff, not to mention speed walk them on the surface. |

| Hellhounds. Phantoms. Old style Magic Maker (wooden model.) Mantas. Killer Eels. Undertakers. Like the Hughes River but still have a bad taste in my mouth over some of the early business practices. I know there's a lot of others, but these work so well I never get around to using them before a fish hits one of these I've listed.
