| Jomusky's swimming for the transom saver kinda reminded me of a bit of chaos I had at the ramp one day, and I figure just about everyone has had something happen to them at some point in time.
I was going out on Minnetonka with my (then 2 1/2 year old) son and my dog. I launched the boat, tied it up etc, and was in the process of getting everybody loaded in when my dog managed to turn on the trolling motor. So the blade is whirring around, and the waves are pushing it right toward the posts on the pier. So I'm swearing at the dog and bending over to try to hold the boat back so my trolling motor prop doesn't get trashed, and my cell phone falls out of my pocket and into the water. I finally get the motor turned off, get myself and the kid in the boat, scoop the phone out of the water where it had been sitting for about 5 minutes and go fishing. As we are idling through the channel, he looks at me and says "Daddy said Sh!t." And for the next couple days he proudly narc'd on me to anyone who would listen.
Interesting side-note: On the way home, I held the phone out the window and let it blow-dry, and it it continued to work another 20 months. Battery was fried, but the phone was fine.
OK, how much longer til fishing season[]

| I went fishing once in wintertime in Holland and we hired a rowing boat (small lake). The dock was white from the frost over night and of course, what else, I had to get a close look at the ice by slipping and falling on my back after having put my right foot on the dock. I have had to hear that story over and over again for two years! [:blackeye:]
As a kid I had this weird ability to fall into the water about every third fishing trip! So this was a close call

| Being that Pewaukee is a metro lake I find many funny landing storys. Almost a given every year to see someone pulling out there boat in REVERSE.
Lots of motors not starting, crooked trailer tounges, straps still on, plug not in, dragging the lower unit on the pavement as they pull out.
The best is when they drive the boat on....and forget to hook up the bow to the trailer...then drive off and the boat comes off and drops on the pavement.
Saw a chick last year jump in to help your husband adjust the trailer.. she lost her top when she was coming out of the water....that was a sight to see...lol
I keep saying that someday I am going to bring my video camera to the launch and film it for entertainment.[;)] []

| Last year on the muskie opener I was heading to the ramp at about 2:00 to switch lakes. When I got to the ramp there was a line of people waiting to go in and out. I didn't immediately see the hold up. Upon closer inspection one could make out the very top foot of a topper about 20 feet of shore. I continued to fish while they waited for the tow truck to come and pull them out of the lake.
When he finally got there the tow truck driver had to dive under the water to hook the cable up to the truck. Can you imagine the bill?
WHen the truck was once again safely on shore the owner opened the door. I'm sure you have all seen the cartoons where the water comes rushing out of the door when they are opened, well that is exactly what happened. Through the windows of the topper you could see stuff floating around in the back of the truck. Obviously the topper was better at keeping water in then keeping it out.
The tow truck operator got the truck far enough out of the water so the lucky feller could load his boat onto the trailer and start his journey behind the tow truck.
I really felt bad for the guy because I know that his weekend had been ruined, but when they left I let out a belly laugh nonetheless.

| My first boat of my own, about 11 years ago. About the 2nd time out, at Long Lake, I didn't have my routine down yet. Got the boat ready to launch, jumped in the truck, and started to back down. Just as I got near the water, I felt a little resistance. Gave her a litle more gas, and then I heard it... Ting, ting. I stopped and got out to look what made the noise. Laying right at the waters edge was a good protion of one of the prop blades, and about 3 inches of the skeg.[:knockout:] After several choice words directed at myself, I pulled back into the lot, strapped the boat back down, and left.
Seems that I forgot to lift the motor back up after I removed the motor-toter! Drove right to the prop repair shop, and removed the lower unit for skeg repair, and gave them the prop and pieces to fix it. Bought a new spare prop while I was at it.[:blackeye:]
Oh well, just shows to go ya. Get a routine, and do it the same every time![:praise:]

| Last year i watched a guy in a ski natique get frustrated and put his boat on the trailer full throttle. He bent the trailer and could not put the boat on the trailer.
I seen a guy in a bayliner pull his boat out and drag the skeg on the motor down the road.
When I was in college I launched my boat on cedar lake and by the time i parked and got back my buddy was standing on the seat waving his arms, not much boat left in the water. You guessed it left the plug out.
last year on teal lake this family decided to have a sand fight with my boat. My boat lost and there were handfulls of sand in my boat, reels and tackle boxes. They were so clueless about what they did. They were lucky there kids were with them. I was not a happy camper.

| I was fishing on the dock when I was younger about 11 or so. I was fishing with a bobber and a chub. Many of the minnows were dead so I started throwing them out in the water and that seemed to attract a lot of seagulls. My cousin was along side me and I said watch this....remember I'm a little kid when this occurred....a seagull flew down to get a minnow and right when he was over my bobber I set the hook, the bobber rapped around the seagull and the hook went right into the birds side! I couldn't believe it, the thing tried flying up but crashed into the water hard! I reeled it in and my cousin who was a lot older than me netted it. We first pinned the bird down to the ground so it wouldn't move but that thing was going crazy! My cousin cut the line, then took the pliers and got the hook out. The bird wasn't injured very badly because once we let go, he took off flying away.
That was actually a scary moment for me,

| Invited to go for a pontoon ride, I was half drunk and holding the boat at the end of the pier. One foot on the pontoon boat and one foot on the pier. By the time I noticed I was slowly doing the splits I was unable to jump to either the boat or the pier. In da drink I went. | |

| WAS FISHING MUSKIES AROUND A ROCK PILE WHERE A BUNCH OF PELICANS WERE RESTING, I CASTED MY PIG AND A PELICAN GOT OFF THE ROCK AND COUGHT MY PIG IN MIDD FLIGHT. YOU WANT TO TALK ABOUT A POWERFULL FIGHTING BIRD. BROTHER GOT PICS OF ME FIGHTING THIS THING BUT WHEN I GOT IT NEXT TO THE BOAT IT BROKE MY LINE AND FLEW OFF WITH MY LURE AND LEADER HANGING FROM ITS MOUTH. I DONT KNOW WHAT HAPPEND TO THE PELICAN BUT IT DIDNT LOOK GOOD.[:((] [:((] [:((]
