Like I said when my site is done I will be able to post most of the information on it and change things as the market changes.
I was emailed a question that I wanted to answer about the New St Croix Tournament blank. I spoke to one of the folks that helped design this blank from St Croix. It appears that the tournament blank is a completely new design in fishing rods. Most sticks have three different points of change in a taper. St Croix has changed that to offer a change in taper every 1/10 of an inch. It adds strength to the blank. They call it Integrated Poly Curve (IPC). One of the biggest changes is the Advanced Reinforcing Technology (ART). This is a special layer of graphite fibers wrapped around the blank at right angles. This increases hoop strength without adding weight or blank diameter. I have been impressed with this blank. There is an added cost to this blank with the extra material but from what I was told I think it is worth it. Kind of gives a reason to why folks using this stick like it so much.
The other blank I received an email question about was the XXXH Premier. I have not built on the SCII (Premier) blank in a long time (other then the XXXH) but from what I was told from St Croix I need to take a look at it. They did an upgrade to the Premier two years ago cleaning up the actions. Along with that they developed the XXXH. I have built several sticks on this blank over the last couple months to include extending one to 9 feet. This thing is a work horse. It is rated for up to 20 ounces but I can tell you it was tested for higher then that. Can you say Big Bait Stick?
