Subject: Diseases associated with releases?

I was wondering if any research was done regarding diseases associated with catch and release? I was curious to know what are the most prevalent forms of disease that muskies acquire due to catch and release. If the most common and threatening diseases and causes of these diseases are known it might help a couple more fish survive after release each year. Are the majority of infections caused due to air borne bacteria that the fish are not used to encountering, removal of slime coat, stress from fight? Are there any remedies that could be given to the fish before release (artificial slime coat or other product)?
Any insight to this topic would be appreciated,
Kly

pike with the red spots desease have to be killed as they infect other fish (those red bleeding round wounds all over the flanks), but mainly fish that get mistreated before being released get a damaged slime-layer. This layer helps prevent deseases that occur by the work of parasites and fungi. If you remove this layer, these animals will have a ball and you will see fungal infections on the fish. These can be treated but it's not possible to do this in a lake. In a pond it's possible because you need to feed them fish that contain medication and you need to add drugs (medicinal drugs, I don't rememùber if there is a different name for this) to the water to help purify it so fish can heal. I know they do this for Koi-carps (those chinese ones that are worth a fortune) but will it work for pike/musky?
