I just counted all the lure makers on this site. Wow!! I have 34 names . I think it would be impossible to have everyone on the site do something to one lure. I would not want to leave anyone out either so what are our options. I can think of a few. One would be to pair up two to three guys per lure and have like 10 or 12 baits to give to Muskies first. This option could have us put all the names in a hat and draw them out and you build with whoever you get. That sounds like fun to me. Another option would be to have one of us build a lure and paint it then send it around to everyone to sign it then clear coat and donate it. Any other thoughts? Kingfisher

I'll just copy and paste my thoughts from the old thread...

Ok, I have an idea that might work...
Since there are so many guys that make great baits we can't realistically have everyone actually do some artistic painting to a bait.
My idea is that Kingfisher could make a huge crankbait then send it to me. I could carve the head and mouth details and begin by priming the bait and painting just the head then clear coating it once. It can then be shipped off to another person who can continue by painting something unique for the body, maybe one of the guys could do a foil finish for example.

Then the bait can get signed by as many bait makers as are willing.
What would really be cool is if every bait maker could paint just a little something on the bait and sign it then add one coat of epoxy before sending it to the next guy. The thing would be bullet proof by the time we're done! lol

I'd be up for the 2-3 man multiple team approach. What's the fundraiser going to be?

I would also like some of this project to be donated to this website. If we do the two or three man approach we can have several lures to send in different directions The time has come to get in touch with all the guys making lures that use this site. So far we have Myself, Snax, Gman, Fatfingers and rjbass . Kingfisher

I'm in on whatever it is.
If we do a lure and then everybody puts a layer of clear coat on it, it will weigh 20 pounds and be as big as a football when we all are done.
Teaming up is a cool idea, or you can swap lure bodies with another guy and have him paint yours and you paint his...Snax and Novak and Tigger will have to be in a seperate swap, perhaps a round robin for them.
I would really like to see something for this site, because if it wasn't for this site, we wouldn't even know one another.
We could do one super huge collector lure that everyone could sign be fore sealing.
We could all do a limited edition lure of our own, and donate it to a raffle and hold it here with the proceeds going to something that Steve and Zach would decide.
There are plenty of options, and Lord knows when ever anyone asks for donations, the guys from this forum never fail to step up.
Let's keep the brain storming going.

So whats in it for the person who came up with the idea of some bait makers collaborating on a lure...I am not trying to take credit from anyone but I do believe I was the first to suggest this...no big deal if it is nothing ust thought I would ask and see if I could get in on it someohow...

Keep the names coming in. Sounds like two or three per lure is the majority census. One guy makes the body another paints it. signs it and sends back to the first guy who signs it then the third guy signs it and top coats it. Three guys three steps and three signatures. We could do this. Kingfisher

An easy solution to get a bunch of guys involved including myself would be to make a larger sized lure. Let's say in the 24 inch area and also make it 3 to 4 inches fat (up and down). Then divide the lure into 2 inch or so stripes. This would give around 10 or 11 stripes per side for us painters and makers to work our magic. The top and bottom can also be divided 2 or 3 times to add more painters.

The larger the lure the more room we have to paint and the more guys will be able to get involved.

Being more of a collectable lure and really large, it won't be fished. We need someone to cut, router and prime the blank. We would then need someone to final clear it. Anyone who has a hand in building and painting it should sign it.

I have a few designs I could submit where we would have maximum area to really show nice work in each slot.

Let me know what you guys think.

I'm concerned if we only make a giant lure that all collaborate on, it will take longer shipping it around, etc., and we'll only have one item, idea and lure to auction off. Multiple lures could raise more doughand be finished quicker, but, hey, I'll go with the flow...

Not sure if I would have too much to add to such a project, however if there was a need for something I could possibly do then I would be interested.

Shipping a 24" lure around North America will only make the Post Office rich.
Pairing up, or swapping between 2 guys will produce more lures and more money.
I'll team up with someone, and I'll do a pattern on one side and he can do a pattern on the other.
We can both sign our sides and clearcoat it.
34 guys doing that will give us 17 collectables, not just 1.

I think that idea makes the most sense and will give each artist a chance to really do something worthwhile.
It would be neat to pair up with people with a totally different style from your own otherwise the differences won't be as dramatic.
I'd be honoured to pair up with Tigger if he'll do one of his incredible foil or copper finishes on one side of a bait with me.

What do ya say Tigger?

Hi Gys, Im at the hospital sending mom off to her glory. Its been a tough two days and Im exhausted. I was able to log on with this waiting room computer. I would like to partner with at least two other guys . I would love to see a great Foil job on a Deepthreat but I was thinking we could put all the names in a box and pick names out and build with whoever you get. This would be very interesting not knowing who you were going to partner with. Ill be in and out of touch here so count me in. I would be honered to work with any of you. Kingfisher

Hi guys. I have been visiting this place on and off, but not for a few years. I like the idea of the diabetes angle. Been a member of this club for 30 years in June. I live near Kingfisher, and he likes the foils. He does great airbrush work that I'm envious of. Most are capable of completing one task. It really sounds like a great idea, whoever makes and signs them as well as who reaps the rewards from this venture.
