Location: Elk River, Minnesota | Hi everyone,
Not sure if I placed this thread in the correct spot or not...but we are looking at maybe heading to the Boulder Junction area for opening weekend. Do the lakes get really pounded up there at this time for muskies? Am I going to be waiting in line to fish spots on the area lakes?
Thanks in advance.

Location: Lake Tomahawk, WI | Opener of fishing in early May isn't too bad, muskie opener on Memorial Day is busy. Like Steve said, there's plenty of water to get away from the crowds, especially if it's a cooler weekend. One of my favorite weekends of the year.

Location: Waterford & Boulder Junction | I fish the Wisconsin musky opener every year in the Boulder Junction area. Other than being normally busy because of the Memorial weekend with people of all interest being in the outdoors, it is a good time to fish for muskies. There are so many good lakes to fish in the area and my personnal best on opening day in the area has been 12 fish out of my boat before 4:00 PM.

| Definately alot of different water to fish up there. You can find places without the pressure but you just have to do a little homework first and be willing to jump around a bit. For me it's a great time to explore unfamiliar water and experiment. |

Location: Waukesha & Land O Lakes, WI | Depends on which opener you're hitting. The Walleye opener isn't too bad, I see less and less folks each year, but the Musky opener can be a nightmare. As was stated, this is on Memorial Day weekend, so the launches will be full on the popular lakes for sure. I see High Lake's launch, Palmer's launch, Wild Cat's launch packed, as is LVD because the WMT is there that Saturday.
If I were you, planning a trip up for an opener...I'd consider the Boundry Waters opener, it's 2 weeks before Memorial Day. Plenty of water to hit too. |

| Gander is Right, those 3 lakes being the most crowded. Crowded in Boulder Jct. is 10 boat trailers. Those 3 Lakes produce Fish even with the crowds, if you call that a crowd ? ? Great weekend to be in the Northwoods. |
