Location: Pewaukee, Wisconsin | I have used an underwater camera for years icefishing but not that much on the open water. I got the Marcum 560 last year and love it. Great camera with all the extras I was looking for. I was using the Auqua-View and Atlantis before I got my own. Both worked through the ice for me.

Location: Waukesha & Land O Lakes, WI | I had on old OVS that quit working after a year, then Marcum bought them out and I never got it fixed, but I used it a lot for open water. Great tool for finding exact weedlines, structure and more importantly, where transition areas are and what sort of bottom those areas are comprised of. I found a lot more rocky structure on our lakes up north that aren't on any map.
My girlfriend bought me an AquaVu SRT for Christmas that I'm planning to keep with me in the boat this year.

| I use the Marcum 560 as well. I don't use it a ton in open water except on new lakes looking at humps etc and maybe deep sand grass just get a feel for what is down there. They come in much more handy on the ice! Been a blast to use on the ice...I would like to see the VS350 in action sometime to see how it compares to the 560..

| I have the old aqua view scout and have been very pleased with it. Only really use it on the ice, got the DVR recorder and man is that fun/frustrating! |

Location: nationwide | My buddy has an aqua view and we have used it alot to investigate areas of the flowage. He icefishes and uses it alot for that as well. The DNR pulled up to us one day when we were "scouting" an area with it and they (two wardens in the boat) were thouroughly confused as to what we were doing.
We have used it sucker fishing in the fall to find what we are snagged on.

Location: Ottawa Lake, MI | I have never used a underwater camera, but i was thinking of getting one. I have a few questions about them. Are they easy to use, and are they worth the money? Is it possible to get them snagged or damage them? Can you record them to video/dvd? |

Location: nationwide | Is it possible to get them snagged? Oh yea, they can be snagged and pretty good I might add. What we did was to mount the camera to a lure retriever so we can tell which direction the camera is pointing and it helped us to get snagged less also. Drifting over a stumpy/loggy area with the camera close to the bottom provides for many tense moments.

Location: Ottawa Lake, MI | So if you were drifting along looking into the camera and it is facing the wrong you wont see the tree that you just snagged into. lol. Is it easy to retrieve them back? How often do you see fish/musky in them? |

| If you happen to be at the Chicago Muskie Show in 9 days you'll have a chance to see some interesting muskie footage at my seminar at 7pm on Friday night. Russ Warye and I are doing a program on Wisconsin muskies and there is some cool stuff that we shot underwater right before freeze-up in November.
It was shot with an Aqua-View and it turned out pretty sharp. Hope you get a chance to see it.

| I used to have a older OVS camera untill I tore the cable off at the camera head ! I will say if you do a lot of ice fishing it's a must have item ! You'll wonder how you ever fished without it ,actully since I broke mine I haven't been back on the ice it just wouldn't be the same . But I will honstly say that I rarely used it in the open water season . I would rather use the time casting for muskies rather than looking in a camera for them . And the other downside with open water is your camera will be going up and down with the waves ! Oh by the way it is a nice way to keep the kids busy in the boat they really love the camera !
