what do makers like loke use for a clear coat? I like that its not too thick

newbie they used spar varnish. i believe its now clear lacquer or poly urethane. its not durable. the wood is but not the clear. there are superior products to whats being used

Thanks, they seem to hold up alright overall. What do you mean by the wood is? Do they use a certain wood type or seal them a special way?

is that a special wood thats waterproof?

honduras mahogany is not waterproof. . loke uses primer then lacquer paint then there clear coat which was a varnish at one time. there are superior clears available to that.. if your intrested try envirotex lite. it can be applied to be a thinner coat. best thing is contact them
