| I make all my own leaders and quick strike rigs, they all get tied, what do you guys think of crimps for these applications. I personally dont trust crimps. I have a crimping tool and good sleeves but the confidence factor is not there. What are your view, who likes them, what is on the market for the people that dont make there own. |

| Don Hunt showed me how he ties his seven strain with a haywire type wrap. He has yet to have one fail (nor have I) and he tackles the big girls on eagle! I prefer this over crimps for two reasons. They are simple to tie and they flex and don't create a weak point like the crimps do.

| I lost at least 2 fish last year to crappy crimps on high end expensive QS rigs. I'm not buying anymore rigs which use crips as a primary fastening system. I'm ok with crimps to hold the tag end of a knot. Here's a link to a loop rather than a knot which you might like to try. Its called the big game cable loop.

| Hi,
Did any of you guys try flourocarbon on your quick set rigs, at least on the long lead part? You would think on clear water it could make a difference, since the muskie has a long time to look at it. I've seen it used by guides on Eagle lake.
Thanks,
Don |

| Lunch box thats the exact knot I have used, works great. I still wrap the wire and then use fishing glue to hold so it wont unwrap. The less hardware the better. (no clamps) Also have heavy artillery for the monsters of fall or dirty water conditions. As for florocarbon leaders i have been makeing them all this week. Kind of a customized lift off rig. |

| I've seen too many stranded wires fray and break at a crimp to be comfortable. I've been tying my own leaders for several years now and have not had any problems. To tell you the truth I don't know the name of the knot but it seems to work great. Let me know if you want more info.

| Flourocarbon is the way to go on clear water and yes it works great on quick strike rigs as well as regular casting leaders.Steve Herbeck and others on Eagle use them in the 22" to 24" length for casting. With the longer rods you can still avoid your partner with this length- It definately has a clear water advantage. Just an opinion ! |

| I am not a big fan of crimped leader's.
I wrap my seven stranded wire the same way you would twist a single strand and then put a couple of coats of super glue on the wrap so it soak's in.
So far I have not had one break. |
