Open water is coming soon, what are your pre-spawn tactics for the big girls (pre-spawn "PIGS")?[:p]

Also what is your favorite lure for pre-spawn "PIGS"?

Pitchin 6 to 7 inch slammers were cabage and rock are together, deep water should be close by if possible. Have seen most of my pewaukee big girls using this pattern. Cant wait to start this spring. Shure got the itch!!!!![;)] [;)]

I used to follow all the spring tactics rules, down size and slow down and all that, but that all changed last year on opening day. My lure fouled badly so I burned it in to fix it and a medium sized fish followed. This flipped that little brain switch, so I grabbed my high speed reel, and started to burn the bucktail. Not super fast, but much faster than I had been working it. In 5 hours, I put two fish in the boat and had 7 follows. This pattern continued for the next 5 days, so guess what the first thing I'm going to try this year is.

Muskies to all.....Pat

Is it unethical to fish for muskies before/during spawning? I think so. Isn’t that why we have seasons, to protect them? I personally wait for them to get done ****ing.[:(]

I knew this crap was coming, I guide in Illinois and Indiana where there is no natural reproduction. Therefore I'm not hurting the fishery in any way!
Maybe I should have stated that in my post!

Correct me if I'm wrong, even though they are unsuccessful spawning, muskies still go through the process. So aren't you targeting already stressed out fish, then adding the stress of catching one. That doesnt sound like it's good for the fish.

My favorite spring tactic is the bucktail, the good old Buchertail 700, mostly because it's my confidence bait and fun to throw.

Hey Musky99,

How would you know what was good for a fish? I'm stressed out every day, does anybody care about me![:knockout:]
I fish, that is how I deal with my "STRESS"[:(]
I don't keep any fish and either do my clients!!!
I have "NEVER" had a fish die on me, and I don't plan on killing any in the future!!!!!!

I think you guy's should spend your valuable time worring about something more important, like making this world a better place for our kids to grow up in!
Don't worry about the Musky's, there will be plenty of fish for our kids to catch!!!!
