Location: Ogden, Ut | I think my season is ending on me; I'm not necessarily ready to give up, but my better spots are becoming inaccessable due to formation of ice. Had to break about 50 yards of ice to get to open water yesterday. No fish, but it was pretty theraputic. As usual after about Oct 1, I had the whole lake to myself.
I did find a neat new pattern; good only for a very short duration however
I know many of you troll weed edges, well how about ice edges...

| Awesome quality pics too as well as the subject matter. We pull the same boards along ice edges for lake trout in the spring. They hang out around there just like a largemouth would under pads. Tossing a Cleo or other spoon onto the ice and pulling it off and letting it fall also works sometimes. The best ice edges are the ones with slush broken up and pushed in from waves. On a calm day, a billion crystals swishing away is a really cool sound when you pass by. Maybe it's because the wind has been blowing in. The boards will come thru that stuff easier that a hard edge when you goof up with your angles or timing. And trout LOVE baits behind a board that stutters and stalls in slush. I try to ram boards into ice flows and smaller piles of ice for trout and walleyes late in the fall on the Bay Of Quinte also. It's a definite strike trigger if your baits near a fish. Awesome pics bud, sorry to hikack your thread! |

| Hey Sorno , great pics as usual !!!! Looks like we're wrapping it up here too , unfortunately !! We broke ice for a couple hundred yards last week and it's been really cold so it look's like it's done unless we run south . Been a good year for sure !!! I have a feeling we"ll be out a time or two !!!! |

Beautiful shots! Those remind me of New Mexico a little, where I spent a good portion of my young life. I miss the mountains some days, pretty bad. |

Location: oswego, il | Sorno, it is great having you on this site. You fish for the prettiest fish on one of the prettiest lakes with muskies. I guess your looks offset that though! Just kidding. |
