How long will you Top Raider gurus keep pitchin'this bait? Will it produce til fall or do you switch over to walk the dog type baits later as the water cools. I haven`t caught a fish on a topwater after Labor Day for the last few years. I get blow-ups, but no real aggresive.."I want to eat you." strikes. So when do you put your topwaters away? Beav

Beaver: I keep tossing surface baits as long as there is still surface activity from bait fish or if it's an exceptionaly warm sunny fall day

Here on the CAVE Buzzbzits seem to be the best ticket until water temps fall into the lower 70's, they don't seem to want the hard body topwaters as much until then with exception of night fishing. But when temps lower into the sixties thats when they really turn on to the TopRaider presentation. I'll continue to use them till the temps fall below 50. This bait will produce from early spring to early winter here on the CAVE.

I never put it away. When the water freezes I just get out the chain saw and cut strips in the ice so I can keep on casting.

Beaver, topwater never goes out of style for me I use it all season and have had good luck during fall and even late fall I just slow down the retrieve a notch and find a lure that will still make a good bloop through the water I prefer the the thunder head for this presentation and I concentrate on deeper structure were most of the fish have seen jerks, cranks and live bait.
