What is everyone's favorite part about the 'winternet' here on MuskieFIRST? And to the moderators will we be having these events again?

Photo contest?
Weekly chat guests?
Random spur of the moment chats?
Trivia Contest?
Arguing with others about random things that seem pointless?

For me I am a fan of the photo contest and the trivia contest. A great way to pass the time and learn some things and see great photos!

I call 'em "eurekas".

Every once in a while, someone posts something that you never thought of, never considered, never tried, that as soon as you read it it's like a light going on. Doesn't always work, but when I read them I can't wait to try them.

Things to look forward to this winter?

Hopefully we do actually have a winter this year. If we do, things I'm looking forward to:

- Icefishing for panfish, walleye and pike
- Snowmobiling
- Playing w/ my daughter in the snow
- Continuing to rotate out the musky gear, fix, sharpen and organize anything that needs it
- Gear up for Round 2 with boat mods for the next season, which include: More trolling hardware and gear and a new stereo and new speakers and new wiring, converting one of the two live wells to no longer be a live well but to be a dry well for more storage, hopefully get the trailer in to a shop for Liqui-lube hubs and fix the one tail light that's been needing fixed now for the past two years and get the surge brakes adjusted....

I'm looking at Spring, that 1st Saturday in May when us Muskie1str's hit Pewaukee again to try to fullfill the dreams of winter. All those months of shows, seminars, and pool demo's end and all your equipment is reworked and ready to go. I'm not sure what it is but icefishing just doesn't look as good as it used to. Why that is I'm not sure but one thing is for sure I can't wait for this OLD MAN WINTER TO KISS MY BASS and water is back under my boat.

Watching my sandal stripe slowly disappear. Usually lasts til the end of Jan., but this year it seems to be fading faster. Either it wasn'nt as sunny or I didn't get out enough ( my wife would argue that theory).

Rigging the new Tuffy! She should be in the Garage by Saturday.

Items to be mounted so far include Lowrance X-111HD, LMS-334C, VHF Radio, Shakespeare Galaxy, Folbe Rod Holders, Trollmaster Digital Throttle control, Sony CD Stereo. Still debating on which bowmount, AP or Terrova, and if I am going to add a Minn Kota Engine mount.

Then I'll hit a couple shows this winter, and get things set for the Milwaukee Expo Swap.

Not really. The boat was bought way long ago. It was the motor deal that held things up, and my unusually rare patience in waiting for it to happen. Fortunately, or unfortunately, it didn't happen as planned, and I'm back with Mercs! By the time that was determined, then I had to wait on delivery of the motors. So, maybe on Thursday, I will go pick up the boat, with motors, and begin the rigging of stuff! Now that will make for a great way to spend a few nights in the garage!

I have just four toes on my right foot. I lost my pinky toe in a horrific bass fishing accident. I do, however, plan on growing my winter third hand as I did last year for the musky shows.

Please note that my posts almost always lack substance when it comes to fishing, so if you find yourself disagreeing with me anonymously, you certainly will not find yourself in a serious fishing discussion.

That even confuses me.

FEBRUARY! Feb. will be Mikie's Muskie Month, with:

- Feb. 10 being the West Virginia MI Chapter's annual meeting
- Feb. 17 being Gregg Thomas and Tony Grant's Road Rules clinic in Columbus
- Feb. 23-25 being the Ohio Muskie show.

Dang, if I can just schedule something for the 3-4th, that will fill up every weekend! Maybe I'll go fishing. m

Sponge's Christmas/New Year's Season posts for the point of view of the world that only a warped individual like Sponge can provide;
The winter muskie shows both seeing and making new friends and where all of us get better and better at muskie fishing the farther we are from the water & the fishing season;
The sound of my 115 Yamaha firing up and the smell of the lake as I open up the throttle to race across the lake for the first time of the year!

Must be the short day syndrome is already setting in for some.

I look forward to fishing all winter. Am going tomorrow and it will be around 65 degrees air temps. Has to be better than my fishing this fall.

I am also expecting a rod sometime soon from the contest I won this summer by being the smartest one. I will probably spring for an expensive reel to put on that rod, and will only bring it out for show fishing or fishing with company, and so people won't see the worn out scruffy beater stuff I normally throw. I asked Doc to make it gaudy. I want to flash the guys in the next boat.

Winternet stuff? Hopefully I will be fishing often enough I won't have to engage in it, but if I do, I am sure I will always be on the right side...

Didn't see and scruffy gear or any scruffy fish when I fished with you, FSF. This has been a horrible fall time-wise, we'll get out on the Southern Waters yet. The Hideout is awaiting another visit in 2007, too. I won't even make you fish in a foot of water in the slop all day next time!

It's going to be a great winter! Great chat schedule, good conversation, lots of new press releases, articles, video, Radio, show coverage, seminar coverage and announcements, and much more. We'll do our best to make sure no one gets too bored.
