I was looking at reels on Ebay and saw a couple of reels listed as Shimano Calcutta Conquest TE. According to the posts these are Japanese market versions of the TE. Does anyone have any knowledge or experience with these? Just wondering if this reel is worth considering.

I believe they have 8 or 9 bearings...so they probobly are a little smoother than the American version. Check out japantackle.com

I had 2 that where the left hand version and was very pleased with them until one went wrong, tiny component went and it was useless. Ordered a spare and shimano were not holding spares, 6 months later the other went exactly the same. It took over a year of waiting to get them right. Once I rebuilt them I sold them on and went back to Abu's.The spares situation could be better now but it's something to be aware of.

I almost pulled the trigger on one i saw on Ebay...they look SWEET..but now hearing that service on them might be tough to get I'm glad I didn't get one...I did get a new 7000 Big Game Pro Rocket ICS recently in the 4.1 to 1 wide spool model...that is one kick butt reel...I might have to sell a Big Game CL or 2 now....
