| Hi,
Just to show how important it is to figure eight, what is your largest fish caught on an eight or circle? Some of you guys & gals probably caught some hogs on eights! I got a 42" two years ago, and a 40" last year, no real monsters yet.

| My largest ever was caught on an 8, several times around before she took. About 56.5, and was one heck of a battle at first.[:0]
To answer the question:
I was free spooling, yes. I saw the fish coming all the way, and was very ready for the figure 8. When she took the Bucktail, she was going away from me. All I had to do was pop her one, and free spool her away from the boat. Instead, after the hookset, she sat a boatside thrashing and shaking her head, and THEN burned out away from the boat full throttle. Exciting, to say the least. [:0] [;)] |

| Some big fish guys! Steve, wow, thats a big fish 56.5"! Congrats! Were you freespolling at the time? Sometimes I forget to freespoll everytime, that could be dangerous with a 50plus fish!

| I just caught my best figure 8 fish this summer and it measured at 50 inches. But the fish that followed my clients lure just minutes before was much bigger as all 3 of us in the boat said at the same time. This was the same fish the kid had raised some 4 days before but missed it on an IL figure 8 :-( it was is first day fishing with me and I forgot to mention the larger 8s needed up here, man that was a mid 50 inch class fish. |

| I My biggest on an 8 was a 48" that hit first time around on the figure 8. I saw him comming and put the reel in free spool and thumbed the spool when he it. Hooked himself and went nuts. Luckily it had enough sense to let him run out from the boat a ways. Would have been a short wild fight with 8 inches of line between us.

| Not really an 8, but a pause at the boat with my Reef Hawg yielded a four footer two seasons ago. |

| 44" on an 8 on a topwater. Never knew it was there. That's why I figure 8 on every single cast no matter what. |

| One of my biggest figure eight fish came this year (45" Release) on a 7" Perch Colored Slammer.
Few things are better then watching big fish at boatside stalking the bait on the end of your line. Simply awesome!
Oh, I almost forgot to thank Jason Smith for letting me borrow that 7" Perch Colored Slammer that he never uses anymore. Still had one good fish left in it (LOL). |
