Anyone else out there wish that Drifter Tackle would introduce a 10 inch version of the TripleD?

Anyone care to start a petition?

Only if it was the same profile. I wouldn't want it really 'tall'. 9.5" in the same profile or very slightly larger would be awesome!

That, or a suspending 10" Jake.

How hard can that be?

This past Sunday while fishing DDDs on Lake Tom I commented to Sled and Grimm about how much I'd like to see a 10" version.........great minds MUST think alike LOL

I think a 10" DDD would be $$$ in the bank for Drifter/Mania and fish in the boat for us.

You can make your own suspending Jakes and Grandmas.
All you need is a drill, some weight and some 2-ton Epoxy.
I've got them close to neutral and slow-rise, kind of like a custom weighted Suick.
It's not hard, just find the center of gravity, add weight until it struggles to rise, then drill a hole and add that weight and seal it up with some 2-ton epoxy.

Well then... Mr. Guest... if he will still make them for you... will you please buy some... and then sell them to me? Steve told me directly last week that he is no longer making them. I got the impression he meant that he is completely out of business.... so if he is just boycotting me and still making baits for others... that I must find a way around that obstacle.... cause his baits are awesome and will be greatly missed. In fact, the news of losing my supply of Steve's baits is what prompted me to start this post regarding my desire for a 10" TripleD.

Jason,

I'll go you one better. What I'd really like to see is the Jake made with the same process and material as the "DDD". Think of it. No leaks and broken lips anymore, and neutrally buoyant. Be the hottest ticket out there.

I agree the 10" Warner kick's butt. I have been out fished many times by it. And caught a few myself on the one I have.

How about a TripleD style lip on a 10" Molly. Is Mike still making his baits?

not if he's not making them anymore Jason!

I should say I only have about 8 of the deep divers...
I have about 12 of his shallow version and that is one kick butt bait in my book....I think I like his shallows over his deep divers...but I haven't played with the deep divers as much...though I should...I gave Cory a holo cisco one to toss on a certain clear cisco lake a couple weeks ago and about 10 casts with it he popped a fatty in front of me ! I personally think his 10" shallow is about the best shallow twitch bait you can find...

I would imagine it wont take too long before Drifter has this. If I had to guess, I would say it may even be in the works already. A company like that doesnt sit around too long without working on new stuff.

Walsh nailed it. A 10" jake made in the likeness of the DDD precess would be sweet. Even sweeter would be that it was ever slightly buoyant so I can let it float ever so slowly from the WI river and shield lake rocks that I ply. That lure would be welded to my rod as the disposable current jakes are now.

Someone mentioned a 10" Jerko. Awesome idea!! I'd take that a step further too, in that Llungen found a niche for the jerko, making them in odd sizes that many lures(Reef Hawgs in particular) do not come in. Thier lures are 5 and 7", so... a 9" would be perfect. 9" and the same diameter or slightly more, than the original Jerko, and I found my summer and fall throwback...

One last thing. A supersized standard Topraider would also be sweet. I do not like the supertopraider and have modified it to meet my specs, but a slightly upsized regular TR(a touch longer and fatter, say 7" insterad of 5") would be killer!!

Last but not least, an upsized Rapala Husky Jerk is something I have been begging for, for years. Can I get a show of hands of those who feel this would be a useful tool as well??

There is a larger rapala....its called the ACE

I like the larger Top Raider Idea. ANd the 10 inch DDD, I am all for that...I catch a fair share on the DDD but would like a larger profile for the fall.

I popped a fish on the ace last weekend. I agree with painter, a great lure that is underused and by me but i plan on throwing it alot more.

I've actually developed a 10" bait similar to the Jake, but it's neutrally bouyant like a DDD. Should be available at the end of Jan or early Feb. There's also something else quite different about the bait, which is in the process of being patented.

Look for the Violator coming to Musky Shows and major retaliers.

Jason (Reef Hawg),

That's one of the beautiful things with the existing "DDD". The The neutral buoyancy is so borderline, that you can change it's action very easily with a hook change. I often remove the center hook to achieve the slight rise you are describing, Just replacing the factory hooks with beefier ones will turn it into a sinker. Or any combination in between. Wish I had these options with a Jake.

Good Points Frank. My sweety DDD is a slight floater. Will check the hooks against the others. Anyone have the magical amount of veggy oil or weight to add to a jake to make it neautral?? I am talking about the new Jakes, which are different than the older ones. I plan to tinker this winter, but would rather get it right the first time if possible, and I am sure someone here has gotten it down......though might not be willing to talk.....??.....hehehe

I would without a doubt get my hands on many 10" DDDs and DDs. I love my squirrelly DDDs and DDs, that seems to give them a much bigger profile in the water. They don't quite kickout with as little of effort, but when they do and just sit there with this little tail flutter seems to trigger fish. I know it gets me going, how much the fish really care is questionable. It's very rare not to find a DD or DDD on at least one of my rods at any time during the season, but during the fall I throw them at least 90% of the time.

Interesting, but I was completely unaware that they made Squirlly Triple D's. Just visitefd Dreifter's website. Nothing about that particular lure configuration.

Possibly you are confused with another lure?

Nope, squirrely D's were offered a couple years as show specials. Basically just chop off the end of a DDD and glue on a grub tail.

Do they still make the ace minnow ? I have 1 , been repainted a few times, the wood takes on water real bad, swells and cracks. Anyway I would love either an 8 inch husky jerk or even better an 8 inch XRap14. MD
