| Hey guys, it seems that most people use the shimano curado. There are three different ones now maybe 4. There is the standard 6:3to1, a 3:8to1. a 5:1 and a more expensive one. Which one do you use and what rods do you use them on, bucktails, cranking, jerkbaits, big baits or all the above.
Also what other low profile reels look good? I have a shimano citica. How about the quantum metal low profile reel? they used to make it ion a musky width. How about the shimano catala? I seen a phleuger today about the size of a curado with 5 ball bearing and much smoother. Any comments? | |

| I have one of the Fluegers, and love the thing. Great rel, 6 ball bearings, and a good price. | |

| I have 2 Curados, both 6.2:1, and love them. I've used them for everything, but they really shine for smaller twitch baits, smaller spinners, and jigging. I also use them for casting for big walleyes on Lake Mich. in the spring, and trolling for Browns, so they are pretty versital(sp). | |

| Thanks for the info guys. Steve what do you have the phleuger on? | |

| I use the standard 6.3/1 Curado 200B. It works great for twitchbaits, small jerkbaits, creatures and spinnerbaits.
I like to use my Curados on a 7'3" flippin stick that I build. It's lightweight, comfortable, has a light tip, so I can use it for bass fishing if I want, but it has enough backbone to pound hooks home.
Shimano makes a Curado 200SF. The SF designation stands for "SuperFree" and has some more precision bearings in it, allowing the spool to turn more freely. It supposedly will cast farther, but I've been pleased with the casting distance that I get from the standard Curado.
As far as the Quantum reels, unless they radically changed the reels, I haven't been able to get one to last one season. I've cleaned them, oiled them, lubed them and they still sound like a coffee grinder. I wouldn't spend the money on one.
Good luck and keep us posted.

| I use the Shimano Curado 6.2:1 for everything as well. One of the best reels I have ever used. In fact, I picked up two more for the upcoming season. | |
