Get in touch with Bruce Becker in Land O Lakes, he can at least point you in the right direction.

Steve,

I was just with Howie Meyer this weekend in Presque Isle, and he can let you know where to fish in the UP too.

Call Randy at Northwoods Outfitters in Iron Mountain, he has a website, maybe he can hook you up with Mike Mladenik. Also, try Lance Lucky at Lucky's bait shop on 2 near Crystal Falls. Likley waters that everybody knows about in that area are the Paint Pond flowage and Lake Emily. Other waters are Stanley, Chicagon, Peavy, Michigammme, and Smokey. Your best bet for a big fish is the Menominee River (Kingsford Flowage, Twin Falls Flowage and Chalk Hills Flowage) and Chicagon. Emily is a small numbers lake. Paint Pond is pressured compared to other waters in the area but it holds fish, especially down where the Brule runs into it. But I've moved fish at the way top of it too, just above the landing.

If you fish Paint Pond in the very early morning, tell the river otters I said "Hey".

There are just a few guides in our area that advertise for muskies, Brian Clairmont (BAC Guide service) out of Marinette, Wi (715)735-7346 guides the mouth of the Menominee for walleye and Muskies, Full Moon Guide (Google Search)Services advertises he guides for Muskies and also there is a guy that owns a bait shop in Escanaba that advertises he guides for muskies, these are guides that I have heard of in the south/central UP not sure of a recomendation. If you have anymore questions PM me...Randy

What hog(there are lots of stories)??? I think we had counted 13 dams on the menominee river system each one have a great impoundment behind it. The mouth is seeing lots of pressure for the spots that have been planted there and in the Bay of Green Bay, the Mi Dnr took a large musky out of the Wis Electics trash rakes on the Cowboy lake power dam last year, the Menominee is created by the Paint river, Brule River and Michigamee river all which have there own dams and impoundments, big girls are caught now and again but they are few and far between, but they are there...Randy

Cisco Chain and other area lakes in the UP. Try Tom Schwanke. Super nice guy, owns a resort on Thousand Island Lake, which could easily produce the next Michigan record.

I heard through the grapevine that he may have lost an eye in a fishing accident recently, I don't know if he's still guiding.

the hog is a big musky on the menominee that every one would see sitting in shallow weed with its
back out of the water but no one could catch it.
