Why did they stop producing these? What did the guys that had them think of them?

Minn Kota discontinued this model because the demand just wasn't there for this particular model. With a price tag of $1500 to $2000 that may have had a little to do with something too. They did have a few minor problems with them when they were released but after awhile on the market they seemed to have gotton things figured out. Wish they still made them, have a few friends that either have a Genesis now or had one, they all spoke highly of this unit! I never personally got to use one but I know a couple of guys that have one or did have one and they loved it.

I had a couple, and liked them just fine. The first had some problems, and the second was flawless. I ordered another the next year to find they had been discontinued.

jnelson and merckid, Minnkota decided to discontinue the genesis for several reasons the first being the price tag as you said they sold for 1350.00 to 1700.00, second is mid production there was a software hiccup and it needed an upgrade as well as s reboot, kinda like my last computer. Lastly the foot-pads went hay-wire after some good soakings on rain/snow. This was costly for minnkota because the foot pedal was the heart of this machine. By the way if you know anyone wanting to sell one let me know thanks!
