What is the best shaft length to run on this boat? I'd be running a powerdrive motor, 54 or 60 inch shaft?

Do you fish a lot of big water with lots of wind? If so, go with the 60" otherwise if you stay on smaller lakes the 54" will do you just fine. I run a 54" maxxum on our 18 footer does just fine but once in a great while the wind gets a little carried away and I do a little bouncing but otherwise 54" shaft does all I need.

I ran the counsel version and would definetly go with the 60 inch shaft for sure. I would also try to hold out until the PD2 comes out.

that's true...matt wait and get the new Minn Kota coming...the Terrova or something or other...all new foot pedal, new deployment system....that will be the motor to get if you can wait

I don't know how wise it would be to buy something that has just hit the market. Remember the Genesis. I'll have to check it out.

The Genesis was a great motor once they got the minor kinks out of it, but the demand didn't meet what Minn-Kota was looking for. That motor was a awesome trolling motor. I mean you can't really go wrong with going with the Terrova or whatever it's called, not like the PD's don't have tons of problems as is...I mean great motors when they work but just wayyyyyyyyy too unreliable for me! Just my two cents.

Can;t say I ever had a problem with a powerdrive other than the foot pedal wearing out. Ran one for 8 years on my old, old boat and never stored it inside either. Now the Genesis on the other hand, I went thru four of them in 2 years. Great motor(LOL)
