Hughes River Lure Tinkering

Early this morning, went to visit my good friend Kurt Justice at his store, Kurt's Island Sport Shop in Minocqua. He stocks the Hughes River Lures and I just couldn't keep my hands off of one of them and my wallet just did a dance and jiggle until I grabbed it and took it out of my pocket.
Now, does anyone play with hooks or split rings or do you usually just sharpen the hooks and sling 'em?

That badboy should behave perfectly right out of the box for that price. But seriously, I have several and love them. Haven't had to do anything but sharpen the hooks and get a heavy rod out if you got the 8 or 10" shakers. I just got a new shipment from Mr. Wilson which includes an Enchanter. Can't wait to see how well it works.

I got the 6" and it's a pretty yellow and orange. Should be good for the mostly stained waters around here. I have a Widowmaker Deadhead in a Crappie color for clear lakes.

Rob, I bought a 6" round nose from the very store you mentioned. I would be surprised if he continues to carry them however once his orders are filled. Mine works great and you will like it right out of the box. Mine is in his cutom bullhead color which is black back, gold sides and white belly, more like a walley but hey, I am not complaining.
