| We have all heartd about cutting the middle hook off maybe adding a spit ring but does it really make it faster?

Why would you want to make a great slow moving topwater go faster??????
I cut the hooks off mine, because it kept getting hung up with the prop at the turn next to the boat. Then increase the front hook to a 6/0.
If you want a faster tail bait, use a TopRaider. |

Location: Omaha, Nebraska | If you want a fast topwater lure go with the AHL Turr-bo. I would cut off the middle hook if it keeps hanging up. They both are great topwater baits. |

| If you want a burner Pacemaker do this:
1. put a 7/0 on the front hook, wrap about 2" of lead solder on the upper hook shank
2. Clip another 7/0 down to the bare shank and replace the clicker with it
3. replace the rear hook with a Mustad 3/0 short shank wide gap and shrink tube it into place like a TR
You can run this bait WAY faster as the weighted front hook acts a a keel keeping it from rolling, the trimmed clicker will not hang up at higher speeds and the wide gap in the back keeps the rear down a bit in the water for increased PLOP. The fish just want to kill this bait, last summer /fall I had 21 fish on this bait in my boat and at least 16 of them were hooked on the front hook only, I probably had to cut hooks out of at least 14-15 of them.
Works on the big one and most of the smaller ones, sometimes you get a small one that has denser wood and wants to sink with these mods but most of em will work, better hookups with the big hooks and bait running lower in the water as well.
