sluggo,

I have fished Lac Labelle a few time but very little luck with the muskie, we have caught a lot of northerns, sm. and a some walleyes.
I don't think Lac Labelle gets stocked with muskies. I believe it relies on fish going over the spill way from Okauchee.

There are muskies in there, not many but some. I just dont fish it because it costs to much to launch. Around $19 last I heard.

Lots of waters are better and cheaper on the pocket book.

Haven't fished it for 'skis but I know that it is not stocked. The muskie population does come from what goes over the spillway from Fowler Lake. Any lakes that are on the Oconomowoc River System will have muskies in them. They have documented the stocked muskies throughout. But, like Jason said there are better, cheaper lakes to fish.

No idea on the launch fees though.

Jason, is Oconomowoc any good yet?? I know it's just below the Okauchee Dam and I can remember years ago when I still lived down there they were talking about the lake makeup being perfect for supporting BIG fish.

Oconomowoc has a very high kill ratio. I see more muskies killed out of that water compared to Pewaukee, which is a more noted muskie fishery. The problem is the DNR only wants walleyes in the lake.

Local DNR manager Randy Schumocher said once in the Milwaukee Journel. "If you catch a muskie, please take it home, we only want to manage the lake for walleyes".

So the local walleye anglers have been hard on the population in Oconomowoc. The lake has NEVER been stocked and all the fish are over the dam fish from Okauchee.

Wild Rose hatchery takes eggs from the fish in the river ever spring, so its hard to tell what is left for natural reproduction. The lake is clean and has good flow, I would think reproduction would be good on that body of water.

I have had a four fish day out there in the past but I believe those days are gone. Right now a good day is to see three fish. Very few muskies per acre. Maybe someday the local DNR will let the Milwaukee chapter of MI stock it.

Until then, I dont see a great future for Oconomowoc lake. The preasure is getting high and the hay days of the past are long gone.

Oconomowoc lake feeds into Fowler and then to Lac La belle. We must start with Oconomowoc to make all the chain better.

My 2 cents,

I agree, jason. Oconomowoc is a tremendous lake and if managed correctly could be the best trophy water in southern wi. They should stock fowler, la belle and north too. For that matter, pine, beaver, nagawika and the nehmabins too. That's a short list there are dozens more that should have fish.

Lake LaBelle has muskies in it, especially if you don't want to catch them. I have a friend that fishes it every week all open water season for bass. 2 out of 3 times that he fishes it, he complains the next day of being bit off by those "damned muskies"!

If your looking to fish Lac La Belle and you need a guide, call Dennis Radloff at (262) 560-1309
He guides out there and knows the lake better than any one.
