| Either or neither...........
Anyone have opinions here. I like a higher gear ration and am in the market. |

Location: Northwest Chicago Burbs | My personal choice would be to go with a 6500 C4 over the Record, if for no other reason than you're probably going to get greater longevity out of the reel. Reason being with the wider spool you will be putting less torque on the gears while pulling muskie baits in. However, my actual suggestion would be to get the Record series in the larger size up, I think its the 60 series, with the power handle. With that bigger handle you can nearly get the same speed that you would get the C4, but you're putting even less torque on the gearing. AND, being that you have a slower retrieve number, you're going to have a reel that is more versatile for more bait types. If you get a reel with a 6.3:1 gear ratio you better only be throwing jerkbaits where you're not reeling against a taught line, or you're going to be very unhappy with your reel very quickly. |

| Thanks for the reply. Do you think a power crank can really allow me to grab line as quicky as with the different gear ratio?
I know the conventional wisdom is to think that a 6+:1 will really break you down, but my go to presentation is bulging blade baits and actually I find that my old bass fishing C4 (4600 I think) is easier on my arm than my c3's are, even with relatively hefty bucktails and spinners. So theres my logic. Are you buying it or no? |

*if you fill the spool with heavy super line you'll come CLOSE, but not as fast.
my go to presentation is bulging blade baits
*if you go with a C4 neither you, nor your reel are going to last long doing this, thats at least my personal experience.
I have a 4600C4 I use for bass gear, and its great, but bass baits are relatively small, and dont pull all that hard. |

Location: Northwest Chicago Burbs | 6500C4 and the RCN60 have the same width spools on them.
But, I think he was asking about the 6500C4 versus the 6.3:1 RCN50. Which begs the question, is the spool width the same on the 50s and 60s in the Record series? |

| My bad! I didn't see that he was talking about the RCN50. |
