Location: north central wisconsin | Greetings,
I know this is not a Musky related post, but hoping some paople here can offer some advice...
While I have been to Alaska once for an extended fishing stay, it has been a few years, and I want some input before taking my next trip there. See, I plan to go next summer for two weeks or so and want to hit as much of the good fishing overlap as I possibly can. Last time I went, I specifically wanted to target the huge Kenai Kings so I went in June. I had fun doing that, but there were not alot of other great runs happening, and the weather was so unpredictable in early June. I don't mind any type of weather, but the whole family is going on this next trip.
That said, I also want to make Pike, Halibut(mmmm tasty) and inland Rainbows my main focus, with whatever salmonoids are running to fill the void(silvers, reds etc..). I was wondering if anyone here can recomend the best time for the Pike up there(ie early summer, mid, late.....). I took a float for rainbows last time there too, and hit the beginning of it so I'd think July would be good..?. If anyone has a recomendation for a Pike camp I'd also greatly appreciate it. I know some of the rivers are teaming with the big ones. A camp that offers day trips from Anchorage, or two day packages with trout and salmon fillers would also be key. Also, if anyone has gone at that time of year and could give me some tips on drive to areas from Anchorage for day trips to go with the ones I found last time there in 01 I'd also greatly appreciate it. Last time there I spent most of my time in the Kenoai/Soldatna/Cooper landing areas.
Thanks in advance, and feel free to email me at [email protected]

Reef Hawg, look them up and I think you will get all the info you need.
