| I am possibly going to buy a new Skeeter wx1880 (muskie w/60" livewell, 200 HPDI). I fish tournaments and occasionally big bodies of water. I currently own a Ranger bass boat that I really like. Just not deep enough, and small livewell. I fish WMT's.
I would really like a 619vs but $7,000 more than the skeeter set up exactly the same. Any thoughts to the quality of the Skeeter.

| Skeeter makes a nice boat. Deep you want, deep you'll get. They handle the rough stuff very good. I see lots of them when eye fishing Green Bay and Bago, and their owners like them alot. I think you'll be much happier than in a bass boat. You back will thank you, too.
I would also suggest you take a look at the Tuffy 1890 Esox Deep V. This is one awesome fishing boat. Will take that same 200 Hp motor, too. Made for muskie fishing by muskie fishing people.

| I had a '95 Skeeter 17' deep V before I got a new Tuffy in '03. The Skeeter was REALLY well made. The finish was tough, the hull was tough, the carpet was tough and looked new for five years, it handled big water well, the dry storage was DRY, ect.
In the future when a bigger boat makes sence for me, I'll look at what Skeeter has available first.

Location: minocqua, wi. | although i own one and i'm happy with it ... ranger certainly is not the end-all in boats. if you go to the south where the bass-boat is king and all year around is the style for most you'll not only find happy ranger owners, but die-hard skeeter, bass cat, champion (of old), cobra and others. skeeters are a great boat, just not quite as well known in the northern regions. for 7 grand less and especially if you like the layout, you won't be disappointed ... and it's bound to have a yami strapped on the back which is a bonus! ... that was a nice way to say something nice about a merc ... (loaded with sarcasm there) |

| I have a 2050 and have been very happy with it. I fish most of the larger lakes in Minnesota and have not been disappointed. I think the Skeeter is alittle rougher then a Ranger in big waves but they all are when they are that heavy. This is my third year in it with no major problems.
Buddy I fish with has the 1880 and that is a nice ride. If not for the deal I got on the big one I sure would have went with the 1880.

It's kinda the same when you talk about a Lund now a days, you always know that there will be a Merc strapped to the back of those transoms.
But arcticranger, I think your right, if the boat fits your needs then that's what matters. When you buy something for the name, that's not always the best thing to do. Just my opinion! |

Things might have changed. I think some dealership are putting other outboards on Lunds but if you get them done and sent from the factory I think they are all sent now with a Merc. But like I said, people might have raised enough fuss that Lund and the Brunswick Corp. might have changed that. Or your boat was rigged before Brunswick bought them. But if you look in the new Lund book, black is all you will see! |

Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | I worked for a couple years for Skeeter when Parsons and Kavajecz were developing the deep v line with Ken Burroughs at the helm. Good ride. The 1890 Tuffy is better, though, IMHO. |
