| Man, I feel really good today. Finally got out on my favorite water, and finally, after a long time, I broke the fifty barrier. My previous PB was first caught in July of 1998, on Lake St Claire. That fish was 47 1/2" and I have matched that twice since. I've had opportunities for bigger fish, but something always happeneed. The 55" I lost with Brian major, the toothless girl I lost on LOTW, the 48 1/2" pig that Netman ultimately caught on Pewaukee a couple years ago, an easy 50 that I missed with Kyle at the Sab Bay outing. And untold others not seen.
I fished with a coworker, Chris today. We had a great day, and went 1 for two in the morning. Then, right at noon,I heard the rip-rip-rip, and I looked up to see the board go under. It stayed under for a good minute or two, while Chris cleared the lines. I got the board to the boat, and once free to fight the fish alone, I started to get a bit excited as she felt really big. I got her to the boat, Chris dipped the Frabill under her, and she slid into the net. No way was this fish coming unpinned, as she had all three sets of trebles buried in her yap, the bait was engulfed sideways! Out with the Knipex, and 7 snips later, she was in my arms! My knees were shaking so I had to sit.
We did get another 36 later in the afternoon. Only thing that would have made it a better day, was if I would have been in my new Tuffy!

| 50" eh? Hell of a fish, Sir, CONGRATS. You know, you and I are purtnear neighbors, perhaps I could buy you a congratulatory beer some day and maybe swap a fishing tale (lie) or two.

| Jayman, how about tonight!? Thanks for the offer. I'm usually up for a beer. I can't remember where exactly you are again. Maybe if I went to WF, I'd remember!
Give me a call, and we'll get together. I'm sure I can tell a few little tales!
And thanks everyone else for the calls, PM's, e-mails and posts of congrats. It was a long time coming. I knew it was just a matter of time, luck, and the right circumstances. I could have bested my PB 3 years ago when Eric got his big fish. IF he had not been there that day. It was his turn on the clock, and I wouldn't trade that day for anything.

| I was so excited, I didn't notice if it had a fin clip! I know it did not have a tag.
I would say about 20% of the fish I have caught have tags. I notice them, and sometimes write them down, but keep forgetting to submit them. From now on, I will be taking close up photos of any tags. Did this with a walleye I caught, and worked great. I will also try to remember to notice the fin clips, and maybe make sure they are in a pic.

| Very cool fish... And, I am thrilled for you. As with all Muskie Fishermen you were starting to get that 1000 yard stare and a pronounced twitch... Now, hopefully, with therapy and a photo of that fish you can begin the long road back to normalcy... Walleye in your future!
j/k you... Very, very cool fish... Congrats... |
