| Since I'm from Minnesota, I've never used a sucker rig. I'll be fishing the whole month of May in Wisconsin, so I'm gonna need a few sucker rigs for my second rod. What rod do you guys use for suckers? (fiberglass or fiberglass/graphite is necassary) For this early in the season, what size suckers would you use? What quickstrike rig would you use for that size of suckers?
Thanks

| Use the topic "search" on the top of this page. There are many old topics already talked about on this subject.
There are many good quicksets out there, Land a lakes and the Maina lift off rigs are some of the best. Just use a good 7' rod with a 6500-c3 and you should do just fine. Mostly, almost 90% of the time, sucker fishing in Wisconsin is done in late fall. | |

| Suckers work as good early in the year as they do late many times. I like the smaller ones(9-12"), and keep one under the boat about 5-8 feet as you work your normal structure. Make sure you use a quick strike so you can set right away. Most of the fish I've seen in the spring time eat a sucker alot quicker, so be ready to set. | |
