| I joined the 50 inch club yesterday at 8:00 am on Lake Winnibegosh after 18 years of hard luck musky fishing. This one is 52 inches. My previous best was a 43 incher. But that is all history now.
Unfortunately, my inexperience of handling big fish show up by my pore grip on this girl. I grabbed her by the wrong side of the gill plate to show her off properly. And I was more concerned about making a good release to mess with changing my grip.
Also, my net boy and I were too excited to get a girth measurement. Actually, net boy did measure it with a string, but he forgot to measure the string. So, does anyone out there who has been around a few of these big fish have an estimate on the girth of this thing? She measured a strong (and legit) 52 inches.

| What a slob! My initial guess was 23", but'll I'll agree with Dadson that it could be between 23-24. |

Location: Girdwood, Alaska | it's really hard to tell a girth from a picture, but i would guess around 25-26. It definitely is a monster, no matter how big the girth is. Nice work!! |

| having girthed some fatties the last couple months...i would guess it is 23 for sure, maybe as big as 24.5...good fish...never know for sure until you girth it so these are all guesses...

| My 53 had 23.5 and that fish looks thicker for sure. My guess is 24.5 to 25. Nice fish! Later, Tom |

No, It was my first time fishing Winni. We were with a bunch of walleye toads and wasted a little time working for a couple of 16" eyes and said screw it, lets go for some ski's. From what I hear, Winni is regarded as a low density musky fishery, but what the hell, this time of year you go for the big girls, so I think we were right on. My partner and I just put our heads together identified some areas on them map and played the wind. Sure enough, we found this one on a big shallow flat that had been getting hit with the wind all weekend. |

Location: Minneapolis, MN | I echo what Musky53 said. I also caught a 53" a few weeks ago that had a 22.5 girth. Your's is much fatter than 23, maybe 25" |

Location: Brookfield, WI | It's a great fish. I'll say 28". Just remember that this is my first Girthstimate, and should only be utilized in conversation after you've had about twelve beers.

| dude, that rocks! looking at the sag in the belly, IM going with a solid 25" girth, Even with your "inexperience with holding big fish, if there is such a thing, Holding it close to your body still shows that it is a slob, prolly right around 38lbs or so. Very nice fish to crack after 18 years, Congratulations on Hitting your best.
Yeah, work on the Hold next time. We like to see the eyes of the fish too!  |

Location: north central wisconsin | Definately above average. I'd go with just plain big. That is big big girth for a not quite fall fish man!! Nice. Looks at least as big as a couple 23-24's we've seen so 24 if I had to guess, but who gives about girth meas. anyhow? Scary as she looks like she will pack even more on this fall. What a build!!! Story?? Lure??

Now go back and edit your post and take the word "legit" out of it.
It makes me think that you wonder if people will believe your measuring.
@#$% that! You measured it, and I can easily see that your measurements are correct or if anything, a little shy.
It's about time we quit worrying about what everybody else thinks. That's the reason that a lot of guys won't post pictures or reports. They're affraid that some knob might question their measurement.
Great fish. Stick your chest out and say 52" with pride. We believe it's legit, so don't worry about it.
I've seen many nice fish pictures this year that never make the board because guys are worried about what some guys might say.
It's time that we put that line of thinking to bed.

Location: St. Louis, MO., Marco Is., FL, Nestor Falls, ON | Absolutely a 52" length! Nice Photo. My best guess is 23" also. I've had two recently exactly that size and they measured 23" and look the same in my photos. Congrats on your new personal best.
Whoops! I just looked at my pictures again and I believe your fish is bigger girthed. I'll go with 24"-25".

| Cracking that tough nut Winnie is amazing in of itself, way to go. I'd say definitely 25". If that fish isn't over 40 lbs. I haven't seen one. Great move letting her go too. You made us all proud with that move. Your the man. |

| I have a 52 x 22 replica, and I would say the girth on yours is bigger so at least 23. Congratulations on finally making the 50 club |
