| I have never heard a clear explanation of what bottom materials musky spawn over that is successful. I have heard hard bottom whatever that means as far as bottom content and today I read they spawn over muck bottom bays with decaying vegitation just like northerns but much later. What exaclty does the bottom need to be in order for the eggs to hatch?
I know the water must not have suspended sediments otherwise the eggs will suffocate. | |

The spawning Muskies I've observed in Canada were in silty bay's w/ wood, but no decaying vegetation. I suspect decaying vegetation would be counter productive with respect to oxygen content. I know they were spawning because the bigger females were accompanied by 1-2 smaller males- -side by side.
