| Just wondering if anyone on the board is willing to help out a newbie? I would like to fish Tonka but don't really know of any Muskie hot spots and was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction. I have been out a couple times and haven't even seen any ski's to speak of. Where are they? Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks |

Location: Twin Cities | Get yourself a MN metro Hotspots book for muskies, they have many very very good spots marked on the map, with times of year to fish them and even recommend some baits to try. Many of my very best goto spots are marked on this map. |

| Theres a big money tournament comming up on tonka next month so some people might be a little tight lipped,,,but that would be a great weekend to be out scouting because with big money on the line everybodys gonna be fishing their best spots you could learn alot for future seasons |

| I was at Gander Mountain and saw the flier on that tournament. I was sorta thinking the same thing about being out on the water and doing a little scouting myself. I am not trying to get any secrets from anybody just looking to put muskie in the boat for as little as I get out. Thanks for the replies. |

Location: MPLS, MN | This time of year check the mid lake reefs/ Sunken islands or shorelines that drop off quickly on your map. Go to 16 feet and cast towards shore with crankbaits and spinnerbaits. If you don't find them there go to the inside weedline at about 4 feet. Don't forget deep water docks hold fish to.

| I can't believe that people like to go out to the lake, and watch other fisherman. It is going on out there heavy right now. I think that it is kind of BS in my opinion. A lot of people have put a lot of time into that lake and people go out there with their Iowa Fish Finders (binocs)and follow you around. I would rather put in the time myself, then go out on a mission to pirate other peoples spots. |

Location: Watertown, MN | Last sunday working down a long finger to the shoreline, a guy in a red lund I think, comes in and drop in a cast length in front of us and starts casting. Out on tonka there seems to be no morals for some guys. Wish we would have pulled a big girl out behind him.

| Yeah you really have to watch us Iowans. I have never fished Tonka but have fished two different minnesota lakes were after boating (or missing) a fish someone motors over and starts chucking. I even had one switch to the same thing I was throwing. I assume they were from Minnesota. Not to generalize of course, sorry people are hawking your spots. I don't much appreciate that either. Good fishing. |

Location: Iowa | Some of those guys in Minnesota are rude as hell just like the majority of people on out Iowa lakes...I was up recently to fish with GLodden in the cities on a metro lake and we raised a DC-10 of a fish and someone saw us figure 8ing and making short casts back at her...the minute we moved down the spot this boat comes in and puts on baits similar to what we each raised her on...not 2 seconds later I stuck a 45"x20" and wouldn't ya know, they came over to investigate and ask what we were using...then left...stupid people anyways...down here in Iowa walleye and bass fisherman think they own the #*^@ lake and will go between you and the shore you're casting to and then get mad at you for continuing to fish like they own the lake of something...drives me nuts...and water skier/pleasure boater...don't even get me started...I am half tempted to carry a weighted treble hook to cast at them as they go by... |

| HOOKLESS JACKPOT... EXCELLENT, I sincerely think I am going to try that. I was fishing on a Minnesota Lake on the 4th of July weekend (my first mistake) and that would of been fun to use. We actually had a pontoon boat PARADE go between us and the shore. It was actually 15 decorated pontoon boats that circled the lake about a halfcast length from shore. Needless to say I left about 15 minutes later as my blood started boiling. The night before I would actually keep making casts to try and deter individual boats and they just kept on motorin' so a couple times I had to burn my lure so they didn't run it over. I suppose it is better than Iowa though were the actual fisherman will do it to you. I could type 3 hours straight and not even fit in all the stories I have like that, and my bass and panfisherman friends always ask me why I started fishing from 3 -8 a.m. and then after sunset. |

| This is no BS, Tonka is tunring over and it's junk. I'm sure you can catch fish but I will not be out there for about ten days. I was out today and the whole lake is cloudy with nothing going on. |

| You are correct, the lake is starting to turn over. Much cloudier on Thur. than last weekend. I will disagree, however, with the fishing as we moved several nice fish yesterday and lost a 50 plus at the net. Had one other mid 40's fish hit on a figure 8 but couldn't keep that one either.
Think it might get worse rather than better though until she completely turns.
