| This seems to be the time of year I start reflecting on the fishing season, and what transpired these past 5 months, and I think about the next3 months, and what I've got to do, to have a successful fall. Success is relative, and that is what this post is about!
This year I've had the opportunity to share the boat with some of the neatest guys around. Guys who are new to the sport, and young in the muskie world, trying to suck everything out of me, and trying to learn as much as possible. It is amazing, after 20 years of fishing for the slimy fat girls, I STILL LEARN! That is what this post is about....
I want to thank each and every one of you contributors here, who are always trying to help the new guys. I was there once....but not only do you help the new guys, but you trip something in my brain, too. There is never a day that I read the board, that I don't think about something new or a new way to do something. The ideas that come from here, the information available to the muskie fishing masses, is incredible.
What can we do, as a muskie fishing board, and as a "community" to get the word out about M1st? What can we do, to get ALL muskie fisherman involved, with this board, in order to continually educate them? I am excited about the possiblities of what we could do for the continuing upgrade of this great sport of muskie fishing, for generations to vome.
I am thankful for muskie fishing, and muskie fisherman. I have learned alot from so many people....there are a few I need to acknowledge here on this board. Kevin Wegner, a long time Muskies Inc. member, took me under his wing, and helped me to become a muskie fisherman. Since he did this, I've learned from Steve Herbeck, Craig Eversoll, Steve Worrall, and so many different people, it'd take another page to thank everyone! Mikey Baratta gets a BIG nod...thanks for teaching me the finer points of fly-fishing for muskies, and trolling....if not for you, I'd probably have good shoulders, instead of rotator cuff problems...LOL!!
There are so many acuaintenances that have come from MuskieFirst, that I am proud to call this board my "homepage." Solberg & Bette, you've been great guys....thanks for always being nice to my sons, and it has been nice getting to know you! Thanks to the Capital City Muskies Inc. members for taking me under their wing back when I as running 150 mph at the age of 18, and you guys, you know who you are, slowed me down little....possibly saved my life...and now muskie fishing is a HUGE part of my life...THANK YOU ALL!
I appreciate this board...thank you for the continued success of conservation and preaching the message of Catch & Release!!
Sincerely,
Humbly,

| Donnie,
Folks are not responding because they can't see the keyboard thru the tearful eyes after reading yer post.
But I'm all tough so I'll throw back.
Jimmy up dange dude, it's the deal. What you see is what you get, and it's better by your questions and observations.
Like with any and all organizations, there's a culture to M1 that is its very own. A scene that draws and holds folks. You can get muskie info all over, but here you might get lots more. I get lots more. In the end I hope to have given more than I got; hmmm....as to that balaance, we'll see what the deal is when I get there.
Get, give, get. Support those who at the moment need something extra. Life's short, you know.

i played rugby as a college kid and then beyond and got a chance to play in europe and a few other stops along the way. the global fraternity of rugby players is like no other. all that matters was that you loved the game and anywhere you landed would be a welcome place extended from others that shared the love of the game. the musky fishing experience for me has been the same type of thing. it's a rare place to find something that will bring a bunch of type-a otherwise strangers together as close friends for life.
cheers to the brotherhood! and thanks Donnie

Location: Brookfield, WI | M1st is fun, amusing, informative, charitable, tolerant, and well moderated. People here have reached out to me, and all I have done is basically clutter threads up with what amounts mostly to nonsense, as I have little to offer by way of fishing knowledge or insight. I have to be honest, I enjoy the forums as much as the time I've spent fishing. I've learned a lot from the likes of Joel, Mike, and Shep, and hope to continue to learn in the coming weeks from Lambeau, Sorno, Al, and Slamr.
People here like to have fun while they're also being serious, and that works for me. I can laugh and learn something at the same time. You can't beat that. It's a cool cyberplace. I'm greatly looking forward to the Presque Isle outing when a bunch of you will become more than nicknames on a message board.
