Guys,

I was on my way home from Lac Vieux Desert and found a tackle box on the side of the road. Tackle box is a big one and completely full of musky baits. Found it at 1:45 this afternoon just outside of Madison, WI on I90/94 eastbound. There's no name on the box but has something unique about it so if you can identify it - shoot me a PM or email me at [email protected]. I told my wife I would be heartbroken to lose my bait box.

Shane

Hey folks,
This just solidifies my opinion on a great guy (Shane), as well as all the rest of the great folks on this forum.
I hope the owner is a regular on this board, because he/ she probably feels like they lost their entire family right about now.

ShaneW,
Our hats are off to you ! Have you thought of notifying Wi and Ill State Lawenforcement. They have the ability to spread the word and a good many of those guys fish muskie. As a matter of fact I think they just had their anual tourni called "COPS & BOBERS"?? up in Minocqua-Woodruff area. Another way to find the owner is to let Midwest Outdoors newspaper have a crack at finding the owner. They have a large audiance in all the media. Do what you can and sit tight on the box. This may turn out to be your 15+ minutes of fame and YOU DESERVE IT ! We all know too many people who would not do what you're doing , but they don't hunt muskies.
I wish you could tell us what kind box and how well it held up coming out of a truck or boat on 90-94, or was it left on the side of the road after digging out the spare in a packed SUV. Finding it there at that time on a Saturday would dictate that it was a resorter that checked out in the AM from a cabin up North and he was heading home.
Congrats again and keep us posted every couple of days on the search. This is a great story to know if we find the same or if we have a loss as this.

I wish you had found mine that I lost 2 years ago. I hope the guy reads this and gets it back becasue I know exactely how he must feel and how happy he will be when he finds out an honest person acctually found it. To bad there isn't more peope like you in the world.

Just for the record if anyone found a green flambeau maximizer with every type of bait imaginable in it but most importantly 3 hand made suicks my grandfather had made himself and gave me 2 weeks before he passed away. The colors were red head with a white body, natural wood finish with burned in scales, and white body with red stripes on the sides. On Highway 27 between Alexandria and Wheaton let me know.

I lost a tackle box full of gear many years ago. The thing is I had my name and number written all over the box too and the wonderful person that found it still chose to not phone me. There are a few good folks around like Shane but generally your chances of getting something back are "slim to none and slims out of town"!!

I tip my cap to you. You are now in a win win situation. If the owner is found surely he and the muskie gods will be gracious unto you. If your efforts fail to produce the owner you can fish those baits with a clean conscience and good karma. Surely good fishing is in your furure regardless. I was going to pst this on the MI board and saw you already did. Let us know how it turns out.

Guys,

Thanks for all of the kind words. Brady identified the box as his. The unique identifier was a bumper sticker that read " I Love More H**D, Morehead Kentucky. I laughed my butt off when I saw that.

FYI - you can drop a Flambeau Maximizer with 57 baits in it from a speeding car on the interstate and it will survive.

Shane
thats really great man....i'm honored to know and deal with someone so honest.

Everyone, hats off to Shane...and hats off to his baits. I've had the pleasure of using 2 of his Timberwolf baits, and they're really great gliders. He sent me a small one last year and i love it....it has an action unique to itself, it tips down on the end of the glide and rights itself as it's hanging motionless and falling and shimmying...i love it.

recently, i just received an 8" tiger musky patterned Timberwolf. MAN the paintjob and clearcoat are really clean and smooth. Holding up well too. i threw this one a lot the last few weeks. it hangs nice, and darts sharply, you can work it as easily slow as you can fast....if you work it fast enough subsurface it moves a good amount of water in front of it too.... the slim profile comes through the sparse, dying weeds i've been fishing real cleanly.
Shane ranks right up there with my favorite guys to deal with for glidebaits so, if you don't have any...check them out.

I know at one point, he had a website up, but i can't find it. anyone have the link?
his email is [email protected].

There are some really good baitmakers that frequent these boards, Shane is definitely in my book, one of them with the Timberwolf line of baits!!!

Wow! talk about a terrific outcome. I'm sure Brady is breathing much better now( he probably feels like he won the lottery). It was certainly a stroke of luck that someone with great personal integrity and a fellow muskie fisherman found that box...... The MF board members & other internet muskie board members are "wicked good" in helping out fellow muskie fisherman. I've seen some truly amazing things here on MF. This is an prime example of the caliber of the MF members.

Shane very nice! How would you like to test drive a couple of the new Zalt & Zam jerkbaits? They will not be available to anyone else (for sale) until the upcoming winter show season. Send me a PM with your shipping address.

Mr. Worrall- Perhaps you should add another forum- "Lost & Found".

Have fun!

Just a note on this subject. I saw the post yesterday. My buddy Al said his friend Brady had a box stolen out of his boat this weekend heading down to Madison. So I mentioned this to him, he let Brady know and guess what, box and owner are getting back together. I read this board every work day but do not post much since I feel that I am not a proffessor of muskie fishing but a pupil of the sport. Regardless, great job on posting this Shane, it worked to get the box back to the proper person. Makes a person feel good inside and you guys on this board rock !!!

ShaneW,

Very nice of you! Give me an email if you ever need anything of mine and I will let you have it for my cost with no upcharge for any of my labor etc. just the cost of the terminal tackle to make the bait. You did a very nice thing and I respect that and would like to offer you something nice in return.

Karma is a good thing man!! May your boat be filled with 50s this fall!

That could be the greates story ever. Heck we got some golfers that will forget a club around the green and a golfer behind them will pick it up, put it in there bag and GONE. That is a great story...

I wanted to let everyone know I was reunited with my box tonight because of the determination of a truly stand up guy. I want to thank Shane again and everyone who helped out in locating my lost box. It makes me feel great inside that us muskie hunters can pull together and help a guy who lost his most valued belongings. Again I can't thank Shane enough, he is truely an amazing guy, and I will be telling this amazing story for the rest of my life. I wish all of my luck to Shane this fall out in the boat.

Thanks again!

Outstanding!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Great to hear that the box /baits are reunited with their rightful owner. As we all know, they're not just a box of misc baits. They're like personal memoires. Surely each bait has a story to tell but only in the hands of the person who helped write the story. I'd be heartbroken if I were ever seperated from a box of lure that have special memories. the baits can be replaced but that special mojo cant. Kudos to Shane for the honesty and effort. It bears repeating, we all thankyou and may the muskie of a lifetime find the end of your line and the bottom of your net. Not only do I hope that if I loose my box do I wish that Shane finds it but Im sure that if Brady finds it, it too will likely find its way back home. Makes you fell good knowing that honesty lives on in such a pessimistic world.
Good fishing y'all
