What are your thoughts on using the 6500c4 for trolling?

Muskie Fever,
With the higher gear ratio it makes it tough reeling in those bigger crankbaits while the boat is moving! You would be better off getting a Okuma 30DX Linecounter with a power handle and better line capacity, they run from $60 to $65 dollars. Capt. Larry

Thanks Larry,
I've got two Okuma's with the line counters. The star drag's are very touchy, Otherwise I like them.

Muskie Fever,
The drag washers on the Okuma 30DX will become sticky if you always leave the drag set in the semi tight position when not using the reel.Just get it totaly wet, loosen the drag so there is only slight tension on the spool, put your thumb again'st the spool and crank the handle. This will spin the spool surface over the washers and straighten the washers back out and smooth them back to normal position. Then from now on when your done for the day loosen the drag all the way and the washers will preform right every time. If your like me and use the same reel for trolling as you use for casting, the 6500c4 is great, caught fish trolling with it, but then again I stop the boat when i get a fish on.
