In an effort to reduce clutter in the boat I attempted to transform the livewells in my Pro-V. One into a tacklebox and the other into a cooler. I plugged the drain holes as in the past that is where I thought all the water was coming from.

This did not work out too well. Both livewells still took on water, although it seemed to be slowly.

Is there any way I can keep the water out of there?

I would rather not do anyting permanent as I still use the livewells for their intended function on occassion.

You must be getting water in from your overfill hole on the outside. I know from working with the guys on the PWT, that when they had to pull there boats out and had to keep there live wells full, they had plugs that specifically fit those holes on the outside. You could either go to a Lund dealer or check marines or try any hardware store or plumbing store. One of those places should have one.

I use rubber stoppers with small screw eyes screwed into them for easy removal. Place one in the intake for the livewell and one in the drain. Both of these holes are located on the transom of my boat. Picked them up at Lowes.

I've been using plumbing plugs in the over flow openings in my Pro-V for years for added dry storage. What you want is a 1 1/2" plumbers plug and that will do the trick.

I hope this helps.

do you put these plugs in the boat from the outside or the inside of the livewell? if from the inside how did you get the screen of the inside of the well? the ones I found were plastic and stick out from the side of the boat are you using something different?

I agree with everyone here. I plugged the overflow hole on my esox mag with a rubber expansion plug in addition to the drain plug. I just got off the water and my livewell is bone dry. I used the one that has a nut on the outside for easy tightening. If I need to use the livewell I can simply reach over the side with a wrench and pop her out. The plug I used fit a size range, 1 1/2" was it's top end. I got it from my local hardware store.
