A friend of mine is very convincingly telling me how I should switch to a low profile real ( Shimano Curado ) on my 1-2oz spinner/bucktail rod (7'2" St. Croix Premier). I currently am using a C3 which is ok. I very interested to see if any of you are using a "bass" reel. I am a little nrevious that it won't handle that 30+ pounder.

Doc,myself and Jason Schillinger are running Curado`s and are not having a bit of trouble with them in any fashion! We both tend to like a little lighter/longer rod for that set-up though! Jason runs 50# power-pro and I use 65#Whip-lash,which this year that will be my creature set-up too!I tend not to throw anything more then 1 1/2oz. with it though.I am sure alot will disagree but this will be the 6th season on one of mine and it was worked on once,my fault,I fell on it on a walk in!It`s great when a guy gets a little sore/tired too!Go for it and you will be happy! Actually, I run 65# Power Pro(love that stuff), and like Jeff said, the reel will take it. Great for early season twitchin, and I always keep it rigged with a throwback bait all summer(usually a medium sized crane).

Handy/Jason,

Which Curado do you use, the 200 or 200BSF, which I guess has a different spool?
