The 2006 Matchfishing season was another great success.

Thanks to everyone who competed in pool play, and congratulations to those teams advancing into the playoffs.

Watch for updates on the competition in the weeks to come, and all those crazy pictures!

You can check out the playoff teams in the Matchfishing forum here:

Will they Rumble-ride the new Tuffy to victory or will the Ranger visor "get musky"?
How will Local knowledge perform when face-to-face with another eastern Trophy Muskie?
How much will the Firemen be charged for some day-Therapy of muskie head-shrinking?
Got Mojo? OyesweMuskydoO!

Find out...have fun!

there's a number of exciting matches going on this weekend in the Matchfishing playoffs!
check out the action in the Matchfishing forum:
http://muskie.outdoorsfirst.com/board/forums/forum-view.asp?fid=23

Saturday, 9/09:
OMuskyO (cprfish/Magruter) vs Team Mojo (Baldy/Jonesi)
it's a border battle pitting some southern WI boys against the big water Minnesotans...will the winner reveal the better fishermen, or the better fish strain?

Saturday, 9/09:
Draegerman (TForcier/NWild) vs Team Therapy (lambeau/big gun)
head-to-head on the same lake? trash-talk-o-rama. if things go poorly on the fire-hoses' home lake, Therapy is heading over to the Nursery for an evening of easy-biters to ensure victory.

Sunday, 9/10:
Got Musky? (Msky Hnr/GOTONE) vs Rumbleknott (Rumblefish/MuskieMike)
the Rumble crew are going to be "somewhere in SE WI" sticking with their local waters, while the Madison boys will probably flee the area since they are known to drive half-way across the country at a moment's notice in search of the hot bite.

coming soon:
Local Fever (Mike's Extreme/jdsplasher) vs Trophy Muskie (TrophyMuskie/?)
a long-distance duel pitting Mr. Triple against the big fish master.

Therapy heads to northern MN to fish their match against Draegerman exploring the Three Lakes chain.
Got Musky? is sticking to home waters where Rumbleknott will join them.

I see Therapy losing, with a score of around 14 - 0 to Draegerman. Lambeau sucks in N.MN, is still reeling from his Packers performance, and Norm is due for a few nice fish on Three Lakes. However, Norm will probably ruin his prop on a rock, and Lambeau will break something....they're both due.

Got Musky? will win 18-6 over Rumbleknot. Rumbleknot will get on the water late, luck into a 32" and get tired around 2PM. Got Musky? will boat their first fish before Rumbleknot wets a line, and will boat their last just as Jeremy puts his boat in his garage.

Nothing like going out on a limb and picking the favorites.

Next year, should we do a fantasy matchfishing contest?

a) all of my pool matches were won in northern MN
2) Norm isn't fishing, it's just Todd
c) Todd will be distracted by his daughter; she'll probably hit something with his trailer anyway
d) i've already got a couple of 50"ers tied up under the dock waiting for me
5) Packers? who are they?

Rumbleknott: you guys might want to look at fishing Mendota as an alternative to Wingra.
it's easier to find because it's bigger, and i hear rumors the muskies are thick as thieves and grow big too.
of course, no one i know has ever fished it for muskies, i'm just not sure why that is...
