| Can muskie's see black blades?does anybody throw black blades and have success on them? |
| |
| MuskieE, I think they can if they are under them. There is a bucktail maker in my area (muskie catcher) that uses alot of black shiny blades on his baits.
I got your bucktail in the mail today and all I can say is WOW! What a bait![:p] |

| Anybody know anything on this subject????/ |

| I have heard of some luck using purple bucktails with black blades. If black lures work, why not buccktails with black blades? |

| I haven't tried solid black blades but I have caught some muskies on black and green blades with the same color hair.Sorry, that is the best I can do for you,try them, they should work.Paul |

| Ghost tail's make's a bucktail with a black blade and a black and red tail that is real hot on the Chip. I like the bait at night. |

| I haven't used an all black blade, but I have taken a couple of smaller fish on the good ole #5 Mepps Black Fury with orange dots. Both of them came from very stained water too. |

| I considered posting something similar to your thread MuskyE. I will tie a completely black bucktail for fishing in cristal clear water this summer. I think I'll spray a nickle blade black so it doesn't shine at all. |

| When the sun isn't out, the classic nickel blade is virtually "black". I've used black blades in the past... and feel that in clear water they produce a great "flicker" affect that resembles flash. In dark water, I feel black blades work because the fish are striking the bait for the way it "feels" not "looks". Just a thought.
Come to think of it, in the clear water I fished as a kid... the #4 Mepps Black Fury with yellow dots was one of my hottest tails for big skis. Might be an old trick I need to try again. Thanks for reminding me Musky-E!! |

| MuskieE,
I have used black blades (love the new wide, heavy, willow blades) in the past with good success. I like them any time, but particularly after dark on clear water. A white tail with a black blade is my fav. |

| PS: You guys on Mill Lacs should try it! [:p] |

| I agree with Joel, black blades and white tails have been good for me on both stained and clear water. |

| Thank guys just what I need, another option. Time to put my old Mepps black on black muskie killer back in my box. |
