Location: Mauston, Wisconsin | The first spine of the anal fin, i.e. separated from the anal fin by the damage shown. The damage was probably some time ago- however the fin flesh/material deteriorates faster than the bone- leaving the fin spine/bone as a protruberance.
Just a wild guess!

Location: Yahara River Chain | fish4musky1, its probably like you losing part of a finger. You'll live and it looks like the fish is doing ok as well.
