This is a 42" musky with some deformities around the gill. Has anyone ever seen this before?

Hard to see it very well, but from what I can see it looks like CPR damage that's healed up. I've caught fish with gill rakers torn nearly off yet healed, so that may be it.

Funny you said that sworral, i brought in a small ski this spring that looked like it had three gill plates on its left side,one was hard but the other two were kinda like gristle...

I have always found it odd just how many musky seem to have deformities and injuries. In comparison to say bass, crappie, steelhead, salmon, cats, etc., it's far more common to see major color differences, odd fins, gills, etc. with musky, weird.
