| I've been considering this for my next boat am leery of a 1200 lb weight. Aluminum boats of roughly the same size are 3 to 400 lbs lighter and rated for the same hp. Namely 60 in a tiller. I know glass will perform better but will that make up for the extra poundage? |

Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | The Alumacraft 165 weighs in at 1175#. It's shorter, and a few inches wider.
A comparable Polar Kraft weighs in at 1075#
A 17' G3 weighs in at about 1100#
The Crestliner 1650 is 10" shorter and weighs in at 880#.
Most aluminum models with the same interior ( have to be sure you are not comparing a much 'simpler' boat) will be close in weight.
The 2007 weighs in a bit lighter because of the new interiors and materials in the build process. |

| I currantly have a alumacraft Magnum 165 and it is 860lbs. 16ft 6 in ,81 inch beam. My other choice would be a Lund 1600 Explorer and they go 950. 16ft 6 in and 86 inch beam.
Thats differences of 340 and 250. ok 2 t0 300 more.
I get 33 34 mph and I dont want to go any slower than that.

Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | That's about what you can expect from a 60 HP motor and a 17' glass or aluminum; low thirties. The models you mentioned are 16 1/2 footers, with a far less involved interior. If you are looking for more speed, I'd suggest a 1760 GT with a 75 Mercury Opti Max or considering a console model. The 1700 C runs over 40 MPH with a 90 and a full load. |

| I want to stick with a tiller . What do you mean involved interior? They all got rod storage ,storage ,and live well. just differant sizes and locations. |

Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Look at the livewell size(52" in the 1700), front deck size (big enough for two easily), rod locker size (8' in the 1700 Esox Deep V on top row, and 14 rods possible in a center load single piece locker) seperate liners for dry storage instead of using the hull as a storage liner port. starboard, and bottom like some boats do, a splashwell a 300# person can jump up and down on and fish from, completely filled interior strakes, single piece molded interior, gasketed full length livewell door, etc.
At the end of the day once all the information is clear and available for the boats you are considering, buy whatever you think is the right boat for you! |

| Thanks Steve . I'm going to check them out if I can ever find one at a dealer. Tuffy's are rarely ever in stock to actually see one,at least the dealers usually have the other boats on hand. Might take a run up to Cedar Lake to see what they got. |
