Location: Forest Lake, Mn | Went Musky fishing on Mille Lacs a couple of times this year and was pretty impressed with the Ranger boats and their ability to handle rough water. I have a Alumacraft Navigator 175 with a 115 Yamaha on it and we had all we could do to crawl around the deck trying to get up onto our pedestals to cast. I have since been looking at Ranger 619 VS with a 200 Yamaha 4 stroke on it and think it would fill the ticket for me. A couple of questions I have are…….Do the dealers do much in terms of dickering? Is it better to check out a couple of different Ranger dealers, or are the prices of new Rangers pretty well locked in. In the case of the 619 VS is the 200 Yamaha enough engine? Do most use casting decks on there boats or in rough water is it better without them? I have only fished big water a few times so I have very little experience with it however I want a boat that will allow me as much luxury as can be expected while in the bigger blasting waves. Any comments on the 619 will be appreciated as well as any other suggestions or input! Thanks in advance………

| Be sure to check out Rangers website. They have a new boat model thats 18.5 feet long with a 95 inch beam. This thing looks awesome. It also has 8 foot rod lockers and is rated for a 175. Big deep boat that wil still fit in the garage. I've got my eye on this one. |

Location: Apollo, PA | Rangers are very nice boats. I bought a mint 99 617 with very low hours this year. The boat was in mint condition and i saved alot of money. I would look at the used market, unless money is no concern. Much better value in clean used rigs. Just my two cents, regardless Rangers are fine stuff. best, PS |

| 200 HP is max on a 619.
I'm not a big fan of the 619. The ride of the 620 was/is so much better. The 619 is a lot harsher, and it's been known to spear a wave or two in the big stuff. Ranger makes great boats, but you'll pay for them. The new 1860 Angler is base on the Reatta Fish n Ski hull. Not as deep a vee like the Fisherman Series. But they are an interesting looking boat, and should be a lot less than the Fisherman series. I bet they sell a lot of these boats. |

Location: Eden Prairie & Pine Island | I'm running a 619 with full windshield, 200 Evinrude Ficht, no kicker, four blade prop, etc. Its a great boat and handles big water on Vermilion well. I use casting decks in rough water, but that may depend on your personal comfort levels. I agree that Frankies is a reputable dealer if you are going new, but don't dispatch finding a used one and saving yourself a ton of money. Good luck. |

Location: Minneapolis, MN | Like Shep, I'm not a big fan of the 619. I would talk to guys that had them and traded up to a 620. One of my friends recently traded up and the difference is huge in big water. I went straight to a 620 after spending a few outings in a friends 619. |

My partner is running the 619 this year, I do notice it is not as smooth in the big water, and the rod storage is a huge difference from the 619 to 620, he cannot get his 8' rod in the lock, plus much smaller. I would go with the 620.

| How come you guys can't get your 8 foot rods in your locker. They fit in mine just fine. I have a 619 with a 200 opti. I like everything about it but the 22 inch transom, wish it was 25 like the new ones. You will need to get a 2007 619 if you want to get the yamaha 200 4-stroke. It only comes in a twenty five inch shaft. |

Location: Eden Prairie & Pine Island | My boat is a 2000 or 2001...all I can say is neither the upper or lower row in the rod locker is long enough to get rods in over 7'6" or maybe 7'9". There is something blocking up in the bow or its just out of space. Maybe newer models can accomodate longer rods. If my model/year is supposed to accomodate 8 footers, I'd like to know and see if it could be fixed. |

| There maybe some foam or somthing stuck in the ends of the tubes. i have never looked but I heard the organizer comes out pretty easy. I have the Ranger catalogs all the way back to 2002 and they all say that the top row should take 8' rods. |
