Location: The desert | How do you make your tackle box one pound lighter you ask? Well its quite simple.......First you take a couple of your buddies to Pelican Lake to do some fishing. Next you go out on the lake and start casting. After a while with no action you go into your box and take out your Musky Snax walleye, which weighs just over a pound. Next you make a few casts with it, just for few laughs at the size of the gigantic splash it makes upon entering the water. After making a few casts, have your buddy ask if he can cast it just once. Being the good friend that you are, you oblige and hand him the rod.....you do this under the assumption that he knows what he is doing with a baitcaster, since he has fished in several tournaments and has caught a good handfull of muskies. Now you watch as he clicks over to freespool, flips the bait over his head and loads up to make the cast. But before letting him make the cast, since it is such an expensive bait, you quickly add in "Dont lose my bait, and if you do you WILL be purchasing me a new one." This is said only to cover yourself if something goes drasticaly wrong. Your friend will respond "If I lose this I will dive in the water after and find it or buy you a new one." So now back to the cast.....He has the bait ready to be flung and you watch as he winds up to try and fling this thing to the opposite end of the earth.....then you watch in horror as he bring it over his head, you hear the line strat pouring off the spool with that ugly sound of a nasty backlash....then you hear the deafening SNAP of solid 80 lb. Spiderwire Stealth and watch in awe as about $70 flies through the air!
This happened to me this weekend.....Before the bait even hit the water i had my shirt hat and glasses off and was in the water swimming to wear I thought it was going to land. After it landed my friends tried to direct me to about the area where it landed....this was unsuccessful. My friend who had casted jumped in shortly after I did. He brought the net to try and scoop around the bottom and snag it. Again with no success. Now there is an empty hole in my tackle box and soon to be an empty hole in my buddies wallet. And amazingly no alcohol was involved in this who cherrade. What a day! Mr. Musky Snax, you will soon be having an order for a replacement walleye.

Location: Muskoka Ontario,Canada | Your friend will be happy to hear that my prices have gone down from when you ordered that bait! Man, what a great story!
My best friend Sean lost his beloved 10" Sucker Musky Snax this summer...the same one he caught his personal best 47" on my website gallery. He cast out only to reel in slack line...turns out that the split ring he had decided to attach to the nose eyelet should have been a Wolverine ring! The lesser quality ring had unthreaded itself off his leader snap! Poor bugger!
The good news is that you'll get yourself a brand new walleye bait and you have a great story to tell! |

| I just picked up some plastic storm shad bodies in a bargin bin at Gander for $1.99. There is like 5 of them in a package. I can give you one free of charge to fill your void.
Give me a jingle sometimee PP and we will go drown some baits.

| OUCH!
Great story though. Love the way you wrote that.
I wouldn't tell your buddy that Mike's dropped his prices. Make sure he gives you the full $70 that you paid for your original bait with, then you make the order for the new Walley bait from Mike yourself...saving the cost difference for yourself...

Location: Oregon | I hate losing baits, even a 5 dollar version! It's not so much the money, it's just "not having the bait anymore" that hurts!
Bummer.

I feel for ya Mike! Hopefully, you'll stick a monster or two on the next one.

| LOL - I've been there, but mine was only $40
What I was told when I lost mine, was "If you can't afford to lose it, you shouldn't be throwing it".
Since then, I've changed my attitude on losing (and to some extent buying) baits. I have some I keep for the museum and others I TRY to beat the crap out of. |

Location: The desert | Now if you knew what I was like, I am the lazy sort of person, who doesnt enjoy running or very strenuous activty except the occassional broomball game or pick up bball game, but overall I like to move slow and put forth little effort. But as soon as I heard the snap of that line, my buddies claimed it was the fasted they had ever seen me move. My shirt glasses and hat were torn of instantly and i was over the side of the boat. I wish it was on video I imagine it would be pretty hilarious!
