| Steve, I am heading up to Canyon Lake, Ontario mid August for a week. I plan on mostly musky fishing. Looking for any helpful info as far as baits, colors, areas, etc. Never been there and have not wet a musky lure in about 5 years. Thanks in advance. | |

Location: Yahara River Chain | Fish the wood (beaver dams and lay downs) as well as reefs. Not much for weeds left. Also current areas would be good as well, like where the tunnel is.
In bucktails colors like pink/silver & blk/org seems to do well.
I also did well with a 7 1/2 Grandma in blue with silver primz twitched VERY erradictly.
TopRaiders and Lee Lures Water Choppers for topwater, I don't think color matter and blk would be fine.
Walleye flavored BullDawgs, but I'll bet blk/org, blk, blk/char would all work as well.

Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Good to hear from you, Lonny, it's been awhile You should see lots of action on that water, reefs, breaklines, and as was already mentioned, any wood or other cover will hold fish. Hit the rocky shorelines when the wind is beating them up a bit, too. I agree with the last post, and would add jigs and plastic to the mix on the reefs; the muskies will eat them and you'll catch other species of fish too. Suicks are great on that water, bright colors. Any small zig zag topwater that would double for both Bass and Muskies would be a great choice and may put an 'eye in the net believe it or not; I'd bring along a few Top Raiders and the like as well.
Smallmouth Bass action on that water can be world class. Mid size crankbaits (DB4 size middle or deep divers) on 30# superlines and lighter 7 strand leaders will add multi-specie action to the mix when you wish to get a bit of a. break from the larger lures.
Enjoy the trip! | |

| Thanks much guys! I heard there can be quite a good trolling bite mainly at dusk as the cisco rise in the water column for walleye and skis. Have you done much trolling on Canyon? | |

Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | My son and inlaws were there last year and did real well trolling the mid size cranks. Muskies, walleyes, and bass. | |
