| Really not expecting anything to come of this, but I can hope. I'm looking for my large Bumble Bee Stealth - or at least one to replace it. I lost it last week *IN* a low-40" ski right on Split Rock Point on Sabaskong Bay - Lake of the Woods.
It was the #*^@ed-est thing and I now understand why some of you now insist on split rings instead of snaps for attaching your lures. I was using a coastlock snap fastened to my BB Stealth. With only a foot of line and my 90# 7-strand wire leader out on the start of the fig 8 the ski came from out of nowhere and attacked the lure. It thrashed at the surface, twisting and turning as I moved my rod tip around the motor and behind the boat. Within 5 seconds the fish was off. #*^@! Then I realized my lure was gone, too. I lifted my rod to find the snap had somehow opened and was bent back way past the open position and had put a sharp crease in the wire of the snap.
I was feeling disappointed about loosing the fish and the lure, but I was most uneasy about the fish with my lure stuck in its face. A few minutes later the muskie launched itself clear of the water behind us and shook its head violently - obviously trying to free itself from the hooks. It was out of the water long enough for me to turn around and see that bumble bee Stealth outside its face near the left corner of its mouth. Boy I sure hope it was able to free itself.
We stayed in the area for quite awhile hoping to see some evidence the fish was ok. It never surfaced again and neither did the lure.
If the muskie did managed to get the hooks out, my bumble bee Stealth is/was floating near Split Rock Point on Sabaskong Bay Lake of the Woods. If anyone of you finds this needle-in-a-haystack I'd sure like to get it back. If any of you has a large-sized Bumble Bee Stealth that I could buy from you, let me know. Are Stealths still being made?
Any other thoughts or words of advise about this situation would be appreciated.
Thx,
D2Bucktail |

Location: Elkhart, IN | I've never even heard of a Stealth, what kind of lure is it? A real bummer that fish got stuck with it like that, sorry to hear that. |

Location: Roseau | Sorry to hear you lost your lure and the fish might still have it. That happened to us last fall trolling up there, had a 40" fish snap the line some how with a 10" believer stuck in its face, well it ended up surfacing around 10 times and the last time it just laid there and we netted it. It all worked out well in the end. Hopefully the fish can spit it and someone finds the lure! |

Location: Athens, Ohio | Split Rock Point is certainly one of my happy places, sorry it brought you problems.
If this helps any, I was fishing Cave Run with Mike Hulbert when he hooked a muskie on a Bobbie bait. The fish made a run at the boat, then slammed into a stump, disengaging the bait from its mouth onto the stump. Sometimes they are resourceful critters. m |

Location: Bemidji | I have a can of Bumble Bee Tuna and I am sure Bette can give you a Stealth Leader to wrap around it. I would use a heavier solid wire leader with a StringEase Snap instead of a Cross-Lok. |

Who ever gave you the idea to use bumblebee colored lures? You should know by now that they don't work.
What kind of lure is a Stealth? I'll check around here but my guess, after doing a little surfing, is that it is no longer made or has a different name. I have some black & yellow paint if you find one in another color.

Location: Chippewa Falls, WI | Well, I will add another log on the fire, last fall up on LOTW, in Sabaskong, I was all excited to troll my brand new 14" Bumble bee Tuna JAKE. After the 1st 5 min I got her lodged in a rock, and up she was stuck, and my 100lb Tuffline XP broke, I was heart broken,
I GAVE ONE TO THE MUSKIE GODS.
P.S. I am heading up there next week for 5 days, I will keep my eye out out for your BB tuna floating!

What kind of lure is a Stealth?
There is (was?) a database of muskie lures on this site once upon a time. It's pretty cool. For the life of me, I can't find a link to it from the home page or any of the other pages, or by using the search function on the bbs. Little help?

| I believe I own two of these lures called the STEALTH.I bought them at the Milwaukee Musky show a few years ago.
A great bait design that people didn't grasp.I have both in a perch pattern,it's a jerk bait that has many versatile actions depending how you want to fish it .
I can't describe it ,you would have to see it work in a pool.
I cannot believe this lure never made it big,I also have been trying to get more of these without any luck. |
