Looking into getting some trolling rods this summer, I would also like to use them for fall sucker fishing, i would imagine i need to get glass rods any suggestions for a good set up to do both or am i going to have to switch em up? Thanks to all.

Two different applications, in my opinion, requiring two different rods. For trolling, I use Gander Guide series Dipsey Diver Rods, Planer Board Rods, and on occasion, I will use Classic Cats. For Sucker Rods, I use nothing but the 8' Classic Cats. Love setting the hook with them babies!

Waterdemon,
I use the same rod for both. A Jim Grandt 8' X-HVY this rod is composite utilizing graphite and glass properties. Paired with a Okuma Catalina LC, I troll everything from shallow Raiders to my Top secret Custom giant Crankbaits. Also it serves well for sucker duty with a ton of power for hooksets. Also don't discount a Linecounter for sucker fishing, this will allow for accurate placement of the sucker under the boat for when you are dragging one while casting.

Good Luck,
Pete K.
