Mild Winter

Was wondering what the opinions out there are regarding the fishing year after a very mild winter like the one we are currently having? It was my experience that a few years ago (1997-1998), after a fairly mild winter fishing that summer was less than spectacular for all species. Anyone keep records or a log on winter weather related conditions and the following fishing year? Interesting to see if there is a pattern.

I don't see how a mild winter could hurt a open water season. The fish still need to eat during the summer.
I could see a harsh winter having a negative effect with winter kill in some lakes, just from the loss of fish numbers.

Weather throughout the year that is abnormal I believe would have some type of effect on many aspects of life for all animals including open water fish. The warming of the ocean in other parts of the world really seems to effect our climate.

Hey Blaster!
How goes it? With the past few winters being very mild, I guess I haven't noticed the fishing being worse or better than normal. I guess all we can do is keep pluggin' away!
