WHAT REEL WOULD YOU ALL CONSIDER TO BE AN "ALL AROUND" REEL, FOR THROWING SPINNERS,JERKBAITS AND THE SUCH ? I LIKE THE ABU 6500...

I never met a reel I couldn't break!

Seriously though, the reason I don't like the cardiff is that the line guide is plastic, and it stays in one place when you cast. That and the thumb bar is plastic, and it sticks sometimes.

It's in its third season, though, so I can't say too muck bad about it. It just feels sort of... cheap compared to my other reels.

Now the record, THRERE's a reel that feels good, and it doesn't cost an arm and a leg. But then I haven't actually used mine yet so I can't say anything other than that.

One thing that enhanced my Abu Success hass been to take them apart and properly oil and grease them upon purchase ( usually short on oil ) this seems to help a lot. If you like to dish out major punishment to reels try the ABU 7000's there are as tough as they come, if you can handle a big reel that is.

ONE MORE THING, SHIMANO SENT ME A BRAND SPANKING NEW CORVALUS 400 TO REPLACE THE CATALA 400 THAT I HAD,,,,,THE CATALA'S BREAKS WENT KAPUT ON ME THE FIRST TIME OUT,,THEN THE THUMB BAR WOULDN'T DISENGAGE. SO FAR THE CORVALUS HAS BEEN OK. I HOPE IT STANDS UP..

I have 2 Maina Reels and 1 Pflueger Trion 66... they are basicly the same reel. You can interchange parts, the parts diagrams are even identical. They all have worked pretty decent for me, but I plan to buy 1 upgrade reel this next year... probably the Diawa Luna. But true for the money they are real solid reels.

I have a couple Diawa Millionaire CV-X 253a's that I love. They are tough reels. I had a 6500c3 and 6600c4 that are both garbage right now. And they didn't have a thumbar. I'd think for $80, you would get a thumbar. $40 diawa and shimano reels have them. Abu's aren't bad reels or anything, but for the money there are better reels in my opinion. The pflueger trion/pete maina/guide series reels are nice too. I have a trion 56 that has taken a lot of abuse.
