What lure is best for deep trolling? Would like to get to 25 feet without wire line, weights, etc. if possible. Thanks.

Legend plows and hookers get down to 30' no problem and they attract big fish.[:sun:]

For pure depth give the Slammer 10" Shad Deep Diver, with two settings on the lip. The deeper setting will get 30'3 7/64" or more!

Our 10 inch Shad body diver will go 30 feet plus on the deep setting
and around 20 on the shallow setting.
This will change with the line and how much you let the lure back.

Yeaaaah, go w/ slammers they're good baits. Plus cheaper than hookers (the bait that is) or plows. I have the 7" slammer right now, and it is the best deep diving lure I've ever used. I had one on in about the 3rd cast every using it.

Hey Schuler, I have boated over twenty 30+ pounders last 2 years alone on the Plows and hookers, thats like 2/3 of my 30#+ fish. I think they are well worth the money not like my HR that never got a sniff and was already given away.[:sun:]

I won't say they are the best (the baits mentioned are good as well), but I catch a lot of nice fish on Cisco Kids with the BIG lip you can buy as an add-on. They run from 27' to as deep as 40' with NO weight. I run them on 50# power pro, 70' gets you 27 feet down, 150' gets you 40 feet down.

I never leave home without them!

The 9" Ernie is pretty hard to beat for deep trolling too. I can bounce bottom in about 25 feet with it. The lip is just about unbreakable on it as well, so it is great for making bottom contact. I can troll them up to about six miles per hour with out any problems.

Hey Otter,

I occasionally fish the salty type water and therefore get salt water catalogs in the mail. In the newest offshore angler, which is a division of Bass pro shops, they have a nice looking lure that may do the trick for you. It's made by Mann's and it's called the giganticus G50+. It says it dives to 50+ feet on just 150 feet of 50 lb mono. I use 80 lb spectron which is thinner than 50 lb mono so it should dive even deeper. I'm thinking about buying one, but I'm having a bit of trouble shelling out the $70.00 they are asking for it. If you buy one and use it, please let me know how it works. The lure is 16" long and I assume that includes the diving bill but who knows. Good luck.

I do not know for sure how deep the bigger Beleivers get, but we caught a lunker suspended down about 40 feet in 70 feet of water. I like the Swim Whizzz's for trowling also...

Remember guys that it is better to have your lure ABOVE the fish than below. I have had them come up from 35 feet down in 40 feet of water and take a lure that was down only 12-15 feet! Color of water plays a part too.

I also troll a little and like the Ernie [9"] real well. We had the most luck on a 8' deep diving Bang-O-B by Bagleys. Both lures track well for me and produce and thats the main thing in my book.
Just my input,
