Weather is tough with big winds, but we are putting in the 1890 and heading out. I forgot a card reader, so no pictures until we can pick one up. Merv is ready to go, and Sue the Net Girl is too, so....

Saw two tonight, both were active but didn't eat. I had one on a Violent Strike Mag off the Golf Course go around on the 8 for at least two minutes, but no dice. Both mid 40's, so no big deal. Got a Pike for dinner, and the rice is cooking. Indian Point has AGAIN upgraded the cabins, I am sitting on a brand new enclosed porch in cabin 3.

West winds blew really strong which is bad for structure selection here, so we are hoping for more stable weather tomorrow. beautiful moon rise though, pictures to follow when I get a card reader.

Hey, I'm looking at a card reader right now.
Some old guy left it here on Friday. I don't know how to use it. Want me to send it up to you?
Hope the winds die down for you.
You only have to catch one, you know.
I'm rooting for Sue to break that 50" mark.
Sue, don't stay in the back of the boat. Get right up there next to him and cast right where he does.
Hell, that deck is big enough for 4 people! Why should you settle for the third shot? He's a lefty anyway.
Get right up on his right shoulder and put some pressure on him.
I did that once. Never been in the boat again.
Hope you guys have a good time at the world's smallest outing.

Beav,
Sue is right up there on the front deck with me, and has no problem at all taking a first shot or two. Next year you're ON this trip, man. It's howling out there out of the North East with rain this morning, no hurry to get out. It's fishable here until 10: 30 PM anyway.

We have Darrel and Jean, Steve, Sue, Merv, and another group I've not met here this week, just a few. I think those who missed it MISSED it!

The Goon has been stingy the last couple days featuring a due East wind, just a couple muskies. I missed a very nice fish this morning, not the ONE, but a VERY nice fish none the less, it stopped a Violent Strike dead and ripped the skirt right off the bait. Had another in the upper 4 foot range launch itself over a Perka, missed it by about a foot. Big pike are going nutz with an average of 10 over 32" every day to 37". We are walleye fishing tomorrow, then back at the Muskies Thursday. We worked very hard the last couple days in some really weird weather. The wind blows souteast, then east HARD, then goes dead flat for awhile. The water temps have gone from 68 degrees in 2' to 73 degrees as air temps went from 55 degrees to 85 degrees, getting close to what I like to see this time of the year. We're seeing muskies, but maxing in the 48" range, not the supertankers I'm here for. Maybe if the water continues to warm....

Fish fry tomorrow at 5 PM held by Indian Point camp, so a social day anyhow. There have been 5 muskies in camp so far for three boats; two are multi specie angling.

Sue had an 'event' yesterday:

She was resting on the deck of the 1890, and decided to get up and fish a while. She picked up her rod, and while still sitting crosslegged, dropped the spinner bait in the water. BOOM! 36" hefty pike nails it the instant it hits the water, and all sorts of craziness ensued, we got the fish, pictured below.

All in all, a tight line the entire trip so far, with half the trip to go.

The Inspector was as fine a host as one might desire, providing a cold one for us last night at his dock as we talked fishing. If you ever are on the Goon, stop by and talk, he's a great guy and has BEER!

At least you aren't having to deal with 100 degree temperatures this year, like you did last year. Good luck guys....and especially Sue. I wish I was there.

The weather turned today and got plain HOT. It wa 97 degrees on the dock according to my sonar temp sensor, and 93 in town. Water temps screamed up in the back bays, too. We got our limit of walleyes in about an hour and a half (about 25 fish in that time, plastics and jigs and crawlers and jigs in 15 to 17'), went after some bass cranking the islands and after a great action morning, came in to get out of the direct sun for awhile. We hit the water again for a couple hours before the Indian Point Camp Wednesday campwide fish fry, and she was there...followed a Wabull ( Thanks, Baldy!) but turned off after a few feet, got a good look. Mid 40# class for sure, so we have one really good fish and a supertanker to work now. Merv lost a mid 40's on a topwater, and it was time to eat.

We got out for an hour and a half this evening to work that big fish, saw three, Merv lost another on a Top Raider that was low to mid 40" class, and I got one we hadn't seen there yet. Raised a 30# class fish, hot to the boat on a Weagle, and the night was over.

All in all, great food, great fishing, sighted a big girl, and all is well on the Goon. there were a couple other muskies taken today in camp, Darrel lost one he couldn't even move, it just hugged the bottom and head shake after head shake, and was gone.

The hospitality here is second to none!! Check out the hats, Indain point had the custom made for the Outing. Next year we fill this place.

We moved 17 today, mostly in the windows provided by the solunar periods. Merv got his persoanl best, a 42, I got one, and Sue got one. We didn't lose any, and didn't see the big girl again. Merv had one on a Topper Stopper follow with the hooks on her nose all the way to the boat that was a 4 footer, but not a taker. He had several blow up on his topwaters tonight, so all in all we had a great day. Pike were not as plentiful, but I had to move off the main lake bays because of winds from the South at 20 to 25 MPH all day. It hit 100 in camp yesterday, and 97 on the water. It moderated a bit today hitting 90. The sun was brutal, so Sue stayed in this evening. Storms tonight, with lower temps and lighter winds tomorrow. 4 in camp today, largest was Mervs. The future of the Goon looks BRIGHT!

lambeau, you see the light reflecting off my lilly white pegs? Had an Eagle crash into a couple pines because of the glare. Hot? Yup. What is WITH this, it's like 10 degrees CELCIUS above average. We froze Saturday.

The average normal high temp this week according to the weather sources here is usually 22 to 24 degrees celcius. It was 34 in camp two days this week, and 32 out on the water. According to the camp owner, temps in camp Wednesday hit 37. That's 10 degrees by my math! Today we are looking at 29 Celcius/84 Fahrenheit. Winds are west today, at 15KMH, gusty with a few clouds.

The wind howled out of the West today, limiting us to east face water. The fish plain didn't go, but we did move two muskies this morning, one was a real good fish. We fished hard for a few Pike today, and I REALLY hate to have to head home tomorrow.

I'll be back in August.
